Lemmy world goes down more than your mother.

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I finally cracked today and moved to .ml

[–] Vlyn@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I started at .ml and came here afterwards.

.ml is a bit better stability wise (though it also had worse days..) and on top of that they have a slur filter. So if someone calls you 'bitch' ('bi.tch') all you see is 'removed' on lemmy.ml. While the entire rest of the fediverse can read what I just wrote :-/

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Can I say cunt? Because if not that's a deal-breaker for me

Edit: looks like I can, all good

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, bitch is a slur, but cunt isn't?

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Where I'm from cunt is a term of endearment so I'm happy .ml has embraced our culture

[–] Krachsterben@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How come you're not on aussie.zone

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Honestly, because the name sounds shit.. fucking Aussie zone.. who came up with that?

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Well thats just removed

Glad that I can pick different instances

I have like 10 accounts across 10 instances, all with the same username. If 1 is down, I just go to the next, and still have access to all my subs.

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I have 4 at the moment. Two normal and two porn account.

[–] clearedtoland@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Different kinds of porn or…?

[–] Darorad@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Gotta have the vanilla account you can use with your friends and family and the kinky one you hide.

[–] clearedtoland@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You mean you don’t share you kink with fam?

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nah, one each for the two most popular porn lemmies. When one is down, I can go to the other. And when I run out of content on both, I can go to nhentai

[–] clearedtoland@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Bows Your Majesty! I am honored.

[–] GrimChaos@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe a stupid question but if I sign up on a different instance, do I need to add all my subs again?

[–] nowherenear@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is a genuine question. Unfortunately we have to manually sub to each community from each instance. Seems like Sync got a sub migration feature under development (for Ultra users). This should be Lemmy's default feature.

[–] GrimChaos@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

It's me again but from a different instance since lemmy.world is having problems again... I added the new account to the Connect app and sadly my communities don't seem to transfer.

Thanks your reply

Yup, same here. Not quite ten yet though.

[–] necrophagist@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Lemm.ee only allows tiny image upload lol I'm having a hard time finding a good instance . ML has some lemmygrad BS I don't even wanna see

[–] baruchin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think that I'll do the same. I really want to use Lemmy but the down time on this instance is becoming an issue for me.

[–] SorteKanin@feddit.dk 8 points 1 year ago

You should rather move to a smaller instance than lemmy.ml. Remember, you can still interact with all other instances.

Hosting is hard, but we are largely getting this for free.

[–] moog@lemm.ee 19 points 1 year ago (2 children)

moved to lemm.ee for this reason. insane downtime levels

[–] nerdschleife@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Same. Its straight up been more stable than reddit used to be lmao

[–] DrQuint@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

If I'm only browsing top, I switch to .ml since I had an account there months ago

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Seriously, whats the uptime this week? Is it above 50%?

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@kbin.social 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

84.94% uptime in the last 24 hours.

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Thats amazingly low.

[–] mitchacho74@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I know it feels like its that often, but its actually still in the upper 90s atleast according to the status site, and its 89% for the last week on an external status page (which probably sees its up by attempting to load the page so its probably close to real life data)

[–] GrimChaos@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

The problem is the downtime is during the times a want to use it

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

It's helping me take breaks so lemmy doesn't become a full on mindless addiction like reddit was so that's been good. Often not sure if it's world or my app (connect) most of the time but ah well.

[–] nutbiggums@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Really earning the comparison to old reddit, ya know? I'm so proud

[–] Yoz@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

This is why people need to move to small instances. I moved to aussie.zone even though I am not Australian. The experience is so great and snappy that I love it.

[–] xusontha@ls.buckodr.ink 6 points 1 year ago

And ofc it goes down again after... I use my own instance which means the only problem is half the instances are on .world so I can't access them when world goes down I wish people would use alternative instances more

[–] samuelinox@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Literally just changed istance from world for this exact reason.

is there an account moving process like on Mastodon and Firefish or do we just have to make an account and move, leaving everything else behind?

There are tools that can move over your subscriptions (https://github.com/CMahaff/lasim) but you'll have to leave your posts & comments behind.
