There's an old superstition about how the blacker they are, the the more harsh the coming winter will be. That middle orange stripe should be more pronounced. My dad keeps seeing all black ones. I don't seem to have them in my neck of the woods

the winter hasn't been very harsh. maybe it means the summers will be more severe?
