They don't want trans people to exist as anything but a porn category, so they treat us as just that, a profanity. It'd be funny because of how pathetic it is, but real people are dying because of this.

it leads down a pretty dark rabbit whole of general Federalist Society plans for an overtly conservative autocratic regime, and it's terrifyingly plausible if they consolidate enough power and funding. and that's all pretty easy with the support of foreign oligarchs that need the US to be fully involved in its own libertarian implosion, so it can turn a blind eye to international war crimes.

i long for the times when conspiracy theories used to be fun spooky stories about cryptids wandering the wilds, and aliens doing creepy stuff in cornfields to mess with farmers

I’m pretty worried. If he wins, I doubt there will ever be another election until the government is overthrown, which could take decades.

Handmaids tale was not on my list of acceptable dystopian futures.

It absolutely does, but the republicans don’t care. They hope the courts won’t strike it down, but even when the courts do strike it down, it’s still a win for republicans in office because their voters love the attempts at violating the human rights and civil rights of anyone who is different from them. Republican voters also remain ignorant of the fact that all these court battles cost money, their tax-payer money.

Killing education has been a GOP cornerstone for at least a century now. Education teaches people to think for themselves and make educated decisions, and those types of people would never vote Republican. The GOP are grooming children to vote for them to let them stay in power.

Their politics isn't "support the next generation". It is "how can the next generation support us". Education is the antithesis of this ideal.

I would bet that if you investigate the author of the bill enough, you'll find that they have some kind of relationship (friends, relative, money changing hands, etc...) with someone in the list who has a vested interest in it being watered down!

To be fair to our ancestors though, this isn’t new. They just change the target from time to time. Once they do their damage and everyone sees how ugly it is and gets behind the victims of their shit, they just switch targets.

In an interview with CNN affiliate KY3, Gragg said the goal of the bill is to “put the social learning development of our children back in the hands of the parents.”

During a news conference Thursday, Charles Gragg, Jr., a retired and disabled veteran who lives in Springfield, Missouri, said he was shocked by the bill his younger brother authored and that the measure “took his breath away.”

“We will certainly have conversations with legislators to see what can be done, but also we’ll mobilize our community of LGBTQ+ Missourians and allies to fight back against this because teachers are an incredibly crucial part of our educational system,” Fischer said.

“While this egregious bill is expected to die in committee hearings, it is increasingly alarming to watch extremist state legislators peddle anti-trans hate and continue to introduce discriminatory policies,” Willingham-Jaggers said in a statement to CNN.

Civil rights groups and advocates have blamed a heightened and hostile climate against the LGBTQ+ community for contributing to Benedict’s death.

The cons are just the worst. They repeat slogans like "pro-life" and "protect the children" - then do everything to cause harm to children.

I wish we could just carve out some Gilead area for them in some cattle country somewhere and let them go form their perfect utopia there and leave the rest of us normal Americans the hell alone. The only downside is that they'd be abusing the hell out of their own kids in that utopia.
