lol are you the one who posted this in reply to something about [most popular 24hr diner in the USA, not an acronym]?

Don’t know the original but it’s great

Totally has nothing to do with Taco Bell being the only thing open past midnight anymore.

[-] Splatterphace@lemm.ee 14 points 6 months ago

Everyone just happened to be hungry and it was the only place open.

Hunger is one of life's Great Equalizers.

Hunger is one of life's great enchiladas.

I love spicy food, and I used to sneak out to Taco bell during errands (not that they're actually spicy). After about 5 times of eating there, I started having digestive issues, which went away once I stopped eating there. I still like their burritos, but will only go there once in a long while. Those taco bell shit memes have a kernel of truth in them, yo.

In Canada, our meat standards are different than in the US. This makes Taco Bell much more expensive to the point where it isn't really a cheap option like it is in the States.

On the other hand, the "post-Taco Bell squits" isn't really a phenomenon here, at least in my experience and that of anyone I've talked about it with.

...it isn't exactly a common topic of conversation, to be fair...

This tracks. I once heard from a former employee that the meat they use is literally the same USDA grade used in dog food. Technically edible, but not exactly a high mark for quality.

[-] Techranger@infosec.pub 4 points 6 months ago

You wanna know what? If they've got a problem with meat standards then they've got a problem with me, so I suggest they let that one marinate!

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 4 points 6 months ago

Well, I'm a vegetarian, so even without the meats, I still got my digestive system messed up. Could be the other ingredients, or it could also be all the sauce packets I guzzled.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 0 points 6 months ago

it could be because it has so much fiber in it that your body isnt used to it

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 2 points 6 months ago

That's not it. I'm vegetarian, and my diet contains a lot of vegetables with fiber.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

cheese maybe then. cause if its not fiber (thats what the cause is for most people) idk what else it could be

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 2 points 6 months ago

To be clear, when I said digestive issues, I didn't mean diarrhea. I meant the opposite. It was sort of a constipation.

[-] nightwatch_admin@feddit.nl 5 points 6 months ago

Nobody expected the Spanish Constipation

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee -1 points 6 months ago

maybe its all the carbs then. but idk if more carbs makes it more likely to have constipation

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 4 points 6 months ago

I said I'm a vegetarian, not a healthy eater. I probably eat 10 times more carbs daily and might fall dead any time.

[-] VicksVaporBBQrub@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago

I'd likely guess it would be the sudden spike of ingesting of lard (in refried beans), oils, salt, and spices.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago

idk how i forgot about the salt content. many tbell items have sodium warning

[-] otp@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 months ago

Taco Bell is not the place I'd think to go for a vegetarian meal! I'm guessing it was the bean and cheese burritos? Or do they have more veggie options these days?

[-] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

Their crispy potato taco is the only thing I still go there for. And that’s suuuuuuuuper rare, like once every year or two.

I’m not vegetarian or anything, it’s just the only thing worth getting imho. It’s been on their budget menu since forever.

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 2 points 6 months ago

I like their black bean crunch wrap supreme with potatoes and jalapeno ranch

[-] seang96@spgrn.com 1 points 6 months ago

Taco Bell doesn't seem cheap anymore in America. I am paying around $20-30 for a meal for 2 people similar to Arby's and other fast food chains.

[-] 4grams@awful.systems 4 points 6 months ago

Personally, id’a said White Castle but maybe that’s just a Midwest thing.

[-] jerrythejared@infosec.pub 1 points 6 months ago

White Castle was a classic for road trips for my family about 15 years ago. Haven’t touched it since which is sad

[-] 4grams@awful.systems 2 points 6 months ago

Wife and I still go every valentines day. Started as a joke since they do the place up but everyone is so sweet and we’ve now got kids who wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.

[-] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

The only reason I'm excited for Vegas in a couple weeks is to get White Castle. It ain't the same as back east or the Midwest, sure, but it's better than those microwavable ones at the grocery store.

[-] maculata@aussie.zone 4 points 6 months ago

That’s a very sad state of affairs if the only option for attempting to ‘live mas’ is consuming cookie-cutter franchised poor quality industrial food-effect product.
