What does it do?

Basically, it slides into a slider on the post and the four rods hold the crossbar in place.

Haha. I was a bit concerned about it, so I used ASA, and it seems to be holding up alright. Fingers crossed it continues to do so.
lol, honestly I'd never even heard about ASA until you mentioned it. Is it easier than ABS?
It’s not too bad. It does lift unless enclosed, but it’s basically ABS that’s slightly easier to print and UV resistant.
Sounds like a pretty good choice for this application!
