Right now, using liftoff app, I have to open 2 tabs in a browser. Find the community on one instance, let's say !abc@lemmy.world, and actually log into my instance on the second tab. Then search that !abc@lemmy.world in the second, logged in, tab. I can then subscribe.

Am I missing a much simpler way of subscribing?

I have been using https://browse.feddit.de/ to find communities. I can't subscribe directly from them when clicking a link from that site.

Here's an Userscript that I'm working that has a slightly easier method, it provides a button on remote instances that sends you to the screen you can click to go to the community from your instance (so you dont have to manually type the !somecommunity@somewhere.ml) on your search.

It makes it slightly easier. Works on mobile and desktops in browser.

There are a couple tools, lemmy-helper https://github.com/RocketDerp/lemmy_helper/tree/master has a command line tool and there is also a simpler "Lemmy Community Seeder": https://github.com/Fmstrat/lcs
