Stealing good, original content from reddit is fine I'd say. Re-posting someone else's repost, less so.
Presumably many people are here in part because they got tired of the karma farming repost bots. We COULD go through every subreddit, sort by top all time, and copy the best posts verbatim (like the bots on reddit do)... but if repetitive content was what we were after, wouldn't it just make more sense to go on reddit at that point?
Points don't matter. All that matters is good content and discussion.
We can't use reddit because the platform and moderators ban folks with false-positive ML algos and their api is broke
Counterpoint: I deleted my reddit account and no longer use reddit, so reposts from reddit are just posts to me. Without this "repost" I'd have never seen this content.
