Posting to homelab and selfhosted communities: like many domain names I had ideas for, the plan did not pan out.

I don't have the time or interest to use it and I'm willing to let it go for cheap (just covering my expenses) if you'd like to have it for something useful.

Payment is easier if you're in Canada but we can surely figure something out otherwise.

Let me know !

would it be cool to set up a lemmy instance on that domain? have a bunch of related communities on it?

im happy to set up a relatively hefty VM on my lab, but dont really have the time to manage the instance.

Setting the domain to be used with something like mastodon or lemmy would be a very appropriate use but I have neither the time or the funding to do it myself which is why I am offering to part ways with the domain.

There is no hurry for now so I will wait and find out if there is interest from someone or a group of folks.

yep, im in the same boat. i just have my little instance for personal use.

I have the server capacity if someone else wants to manage it.

This person is trying to create a self hosting team to work with hosting fedi services, might be a good fit: https://wirebase.org/post/23321

Left a comment there pointing here.

Hello!

I'm definitively interested, and I can trade with CAD. Can you share the instance you're on so that I can DM you? Thank you !

Hey, it's been unstable but I am on lemmy.world.

Seems like a great reuse for a new selfhost style community using lemmy/kbin. How much are you asking for it, or willing to part for it?

I've been renewing the registration since 2019 and it's been costing me about 50$CAD tax included per year with Google domains.

I'm not looking for thousands of dollars and I don't really have an exact price in mind, just whatever feels fair to cover the costs.

It seems there's more than one person interested so at the end of the day it'll depend on the offers I get.

It doesn't exactly answer your question but hope it makes sense.
