Thank you for all your support over the past weeks. It’s helped us get to this point.

A word of caution: The build that was released is slightly outdated and there are a few issues that have already been addressed in that build. Unfortunately because you can’t replace the build in review, we were not able to update it as we went through this nearly week-long back and forth with Apple. It required an appeal to get us onto the store.

With that said, I’ll be releasing the final version of 0.0.2 tonight to TestFlight, and will begin build versioning starting at 0.1.0, which will be the next release on the store. I’ll try and have something submitted to them tonight and hopefully it will be reviewed and released within a day or so.

I'll update this post here in a few hours with more information. Tonight's build will include another list of bug fixes as well as vast improvements to the slide to upvote/comment feature (no more glitching, hopefully) as well as hopefully fixing a few issues with the image viewer.

This should give us a fairly stable release which I will submit to Apple for review. Thankfully, now that we have completed the initial review future updates should be much quicker (likely around 12-24 hours per update).

See you guys in a bit!

Cheers!

Congrats on release! I’ve had problem deciding on a primary app for fediverse and I think Memmy might be it. Sorry you had issues with Apple. Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here! Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I love wefwef but it’s missing native settings and some things Memmy has already, so this is the one.

I hope we get auto marking as read by scrolling past posts (aka, actually hiding the post on our account, and not just in-app like wefwef)

Holy shit those are my boys (in the App Store screenshot)!

Handsome kitties :)

You’re famous

Congrats! I’ve been on the beta for a couple of weeks and am very impressed how quickly it’s become solid.

Can you let me know the best way to submit feature requests? There is one or two gestures I dearly miss from Apollo and find myself reflexively doing.

[–] zuu@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Swipe left on feed view to return to previous thread? Me too.

[–] captsneeze@lemmy.one 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For me, there are two things I miss most.

On a comment swiping from right to left would collapse that entire thread up to the parent comment. I used this ALL THE TIME. It’s great for when you’re deep down a rabbit hole of comments and go “ok I’m done with this conversation, what’s the next one?”, then swipe to shrink the whole thing up to the next parent comment. I didn’t realize how much I loved this feature until after it was gone.

The second might be the same as what you’re saying (?). If I accidentally swipe out of a topic and back to the magazine list view of posts, in Apollo you could go “oops!” And swipe from the right edge to go back to where you were (even, back to the comment you were at in that topic). It was a really nice feature.

Same, i didn’t realize how much muscle memory I had engrained from Apollo, I swipe right to left at least 3 times a day to try and return to a thread 😖

Great to see this moving forward. If I understand correctly, you’ll be retiring the Test Flight releases soon, right?

[–] gkd@lemmy.ml 51 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No. TestFlight will continue to be a beta platform to receive feedback for new versions before they go live. Anyone who is still interested in being a tester is welcome to stay here and will receive regular updates. I am just changing the versioning because of the App Store requirements.

Right now, I only increment build numbers to avoid having to enter a review period for new TestFlight releases. Now, I'll increment the version number after each Store release, and we will be starting at 0.1.0. TestFlight might go from 0.1.0.1 to 0.1.0.15. If we decide at build 15 that we should push to the store, then we will then begin development of 0.1.1.1 on TestFlight and so on.

Sick, I will gladly be a tester!

Pretty sure they’re going to keep pushing beta testing on test flight while keeping what’s available on the App Store as the most stable version.

[–] pinwurm@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Congratulations on the release! 🎉

Watching the app come together since it’s early inception to release has been a wonder as a beta tester. Every release just expands the scope and possibilities of the entire platform.

This App is already being used by thousands of people to connect with the world. When I used Apollo - I used it to hone my hobbies, my career, my tastes, learn about places I’ll visit or where I live now, and make real valuable friendships. Surely, Memmy will continue that tradition for me - and at least thousands more. Great work!

It’s crazy to see how fast this app has gotten better. Congratulations to the App Store release, you’re doing awesome work.

[–] mercury@possumpat.io 6 points 1 year ago

Congrats! This really is the best app out there and I appreciate how much you’re iterating and experimenting. You’ve completely transformed my Lemmy experience

[–] Silviecat44@vlemmy.net 4 points 1 year ago

This official release might get my friends to try Lemmy finally. Great App!

[–] SnowGlobal@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Exciting! Good work (and patience) to all who worked to get it on the App Store.

(Edited to remove Test Flight questions that you answered in your other reply while I was responding!)

[–] clearedtoland@lemmy.fmhy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Congrats @gkd. Memmy is by far my fave. The community appreciate all the work you’ve been putting in. Time to uninstall wefwef and TestFlight!

[–] Sev@feddit.uk 3 points 1 year ago

Awesome mate! Thanks for your efforts and making the best app out the bunch (for my personal tastes, not to discredit the other hard working devs).

[–] Fenzik@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Congrats on getting out there! I’m happy to continue testing if that’s useful. Thanks for a great app and being so responsive, really cool to see.

[–] papajohn@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks for making a great app! I’ve had a good time using Memmy over the past month.

[–] cadellin@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I missed out on the TestFlight do this has been my first impression of Memmy and it’s great!

If you can say.. what was the issue which meant you had to appeal? As someone who’s learning to code apps I’m curious about what issues devs have.

Join the discord server. You’ll see what the issues were. I think it was about account deletion and some legal stuff.

I can’t see it on the UK App Store currently. Don’t know if it’s just taking its time or you didn’t mark it for release in the UK as yet?

Congratulations!! I'm very impressed with how fast this app has improved!

[–] Icebound_Woof@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Congratulations! I’ve been using the beata version and the app is in an incredible good state for such a young project.

[–] FloppinDong@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

App works great thank you! Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but I feel that upvote should be red/orange and downvote should be blue. Both wefwef and Memmy have it backwards… or maybe I’m just tripping

[–] mysoulishome@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

[–] mxwarp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Great job! Lovin’ the app so far.

My only grievance and humble request is that the post screen when opening-loading app should have the same cute, tiled mouse logo.

Thank you for considering my request. I appreciate your time and attention.

[–] fue@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Grats on the release on AppStore. Keep it up!

[–] cyberthrunter@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is there some way to make this thing default to the subscribed feed instead of a bunch of stuff I don’t care about?

[–] gkd@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

There are options in the settings to set default sorts and filters. 👍

[–] Bingohas@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I’m gonna say it so the devs don’t have to: drop this a review guys. Let’s get it up on the search results.

[–] Bingohas@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Is this the first iOS Lemmy app released?

[–] crestoli@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

amazing stuff! keep up the great work 🥳

[–] nom_nom@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

My dude, I can't thank you enough for this amazing piece of software. I've been waiting for an iOS Lemmy app for over a year now, and this is much better than what I expected/hoped for. God bless you.

A bit late to the party, but wow - you guys have done an amazing job. Thanks for all the hard work. I reckon this (memmy and wefwef) is gonna make life a whole lot easier for people to move to the fediverse.

This probably isn’t the correct forum to make a suggestion, but I couldn’t connect to the discord, so I’ll just add it here - in case it’s valuable to you:

  • When going through the feed, it gets a little difficult to see which community the content is linked to. I think swapping the positioning of the username and community would make things a lot easier. I believe that from an information architecture perspective, the community should take priority over the user who has posted the content. But that’s just me.

Hope this was useful feedback.

Cheers, and big ups to you guys for all the effort you’ve put in!
