Hello, I'm not really too well versed in Audio, so im sorry if this question may seem a bit silly to you experts.

A few Months ago, I got my self some Vintage 4 Way Speaker Boxes from the late East germany. The person I bought it from, insisted that these need very specific Amplifiers so all 4 Speakers of the 4 Way System will be utilized.

The Amplifier he said worked best with that are Fera V150s, also Vintage east German stuff... issue here being that mine has issues working consistently, so I'll probably have to replace it at some point.

What seems odd to me is that the 4 way Speaker Boxes need specific Amplifiers to use all 4 Speakers? Is that true, or would any amplifier be able to drive all 4 Speakers just fine?

Which make and model are those speakers?

Edit:

I checked the amp, apparently the "special feature" is pseudo-quadrophonic sound. Could be that those speakers are actually wired to match that amp.

They are BSLF 170 Boxes!

That Quadrophonic feature you mentioned is used for separate speakers to create a certain effect... atleast according to the only bit of Fera V150 Documentation I could find.... at 144p... and in german

Good news. Those are "standard" 4-way speakers and will work fine with stereo amps.

Also, if you need more infos, those have been sold as RFT BSLF170 and Quadral AK170S (Export model).

Should look like this: https://www.radiomuseum.org/images/radio/all_akustik_hannover/ak170s_1779428.jpg

I see, interessting!

Big question for me now is how someone else suggested to look into, if these have build in Crossover or if I gotta figure out something myself there

Inside you'll have a massive crossover and a separate tweeter safeguard/cossover combo:

Just connect them to your amp and off you go.

Would love to check that before I go ahead and buy a new Amp, my Model is an older one afterall. Which speaker Hole was that picture taken from?

If you want to check yourself, try the sub. The two mids are in separate volumes and too small anyway.
