Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

What are the odds of Khelif winning a defamation lawsuit against Boebert? She's falsely accusing her of being trans and therefore being ineligible to participate in women's boxing.

[–] nickhammes@lemmy.world 63 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well an Olympic athlete is probably a public figure in this context, so she'd need to show that Boebert defamed her "with knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not."

Pretty good, I'd wager.

Remember there's a harm component as well - Khelif is Algerian, where being outed as LGBTQIA of any stripe can get you killed by the state.

Has anyone ever seen this Karen when her mouth isn't gaping wide open? Why does she always have to talk in all caps?

[–] Maven@lemmy.zip 22 points 3 months ago

It needs to be open so she can fit all of the OTHER dicks from that Beetlejuice showing

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 41 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Maybe she should move to Italy with the rest of the fascist weirdos that are upset about sex, gender, and ????.

[–] ASDraptor@lemmy.autism.place 24 points 3 months ago (2 children)

No, please we have enough weirdos already here, can you keep yours to yourselves?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's easier to keep track if they're all in one place though. I'm sure we can come up with a suitable location we all agree with, like the surface of the sun.

[–] morphballganon@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Too expensive to get them there. I suggest the bottom of the Marianas Trench. I hear they even have Fanta down there!

Just equip them with concrete boots, much cheaper than a spaceship.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why bother with concrete boots? Rocks are cheap, maybe even free depending where you grab them from.

[–] morphballganon@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Security of course. You don't want them coming dislodged! How would you secure the rocks? Burlap sacks full, tied with plastic rope to their ankles?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Make them eat them? I don't know. That's for logistics to figure out. We're the idea people! That's why we're paid the big bucks. And by big bucks, I mean crippling national debt we have absolutely no control over being owned by a foreign nation, China.

Wasn't MTG doing crossfit? Maybe they should look into it. She could be not feminine enough for conservatives if she has been doing 'men activities' involving strength and muscles. Maybe MTG is secretly a men! Just sayin.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

I'd say A men to that!

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 25 points 3 months ago

Same woman who was accused of spending 60k of campaign funds for personal expenses. She's incapable of spending her own money for causes. It's almost like she doesn't actually believe in anything.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago

Wtf is wrong with these people?

I didn't even know about this at all and I still don't care at all. The fact that she cares so much about this shit that does not affect her or anyone listening to her in any way is fucking weird.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That’s a LOT of handies.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)
[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 16 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They're implying she's raising money by performing hand jobs.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

I was half-awake and read "handles". I even read it a couple times and searched the article trying to understand.

Thanks.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Haha that's cool, the tired is real. Glad I could help.

Carpet bagger performing handjobs in a public theater.

[–] SuperSaiyanSwag@lemmy.zip 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bigots are bigots for a reason, but what irks me more about this issue is that once they are proven wrong they just double down instead of admitting that they were mistaken. Not trying to excuse their transphobia, but after the initial dumb outrage they could’ve just moved on quietly after learning that she was born a female and I would’ve just thought of them as usual dumb-asshole-bigots, but noooooo, they just have to lower the bar even more.

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Because the whole point is that they're right and the world is wrong, and they're going to take over and make it be right. Admitting a mistake would invalidate the project. Folding Ideas flat earth piece is a great window into the mindset.

[–] morphballganon@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 3 months ago

... who cares?
