My shit would've been confiscated so fast if I brought my Gameboy to school, holy shit. And then I'd be grounded from it for the next year lol. Blew my mind when I heard phones are like totally allowed in schools nowadays. Even if I did have a gameboy with me though idk when I would've had time to play it. I guess during lunch but again that's when teachers were on the prowl. I do remember I had summer school one year and Mr. P did not give a FUCK lol. So I played Mario kart ds download play all summer with some of the kids and got an A lol. Good times.

Were you in some boarding school for monks or something?
Haha, you think? Nah I mean it was just a public school, pretty normal overall. I got the vibe it was pretty similar to other schools from what my friends told me. Things just seem a lot different now.
I used to play the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros on my original 2DS during the lunch breaks of my freshman and sophomore year in high school with a few friends. It was a good time. We usually had at least three of us playing it at one time. Sometimes the full four player limit. I haven't played much of Smash Ultimate, as I don't own it myself, but I was always a Samus and Zero Suit Samus main back in Smash 4. One of my friends really enjoyed playing as Duck Hunt, while another always mained Toon Link. The other friend that joined us occasionally typically played Greninja. Very fond memories even though I usually lost. Another thing to mention is that my school did a Smash Bros tournament on the second to last day of school most years, so that was also really fun. I remember getting absolutely destroyed by a Sonic player at my school in one of them. I got a little salty for some reason, but it was still fun.
I once took my GBA SP to the school and did some matches of DBZ Supersonic Warriors and my teacher found out and he took it out, mom got to go for it to claim it and she didn't allow me to play with it for like a month lol
So no, I do not have good experiences taking my handhelds to the school, I have taken several times later my handhelds to the school but I generally don't like to be asked what I'm playing, or worse people touching my stuff haha.
The best memories I could think of were playing GTA Liberty City Stories and Burnout Legends of PSP with some mates, but those were just some few occasions.
Also I managed to do some matches of Metroid Prime Hunters, but I was the one to bring all the hardware needed 😂
My school’s faculty didn’t give a damn if we played games during breaks, just not during class.
I played anything and everything - Final Fantasy, Zelda 2, Jam Sessions, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime Hunters, hell when I learned about PSP softmodding most of my research on it was done at school during lunch or spares. Teachers never looked at me twice.
That said, they did start raising eyebrows when I used a live CD of Linux to bypass all of their content filters….
