I mean that's kind of why we have stuff like the carbon tax. But all it is is something conservatives to use as an excuse to say "fuck Trudeau".

It's actually such a great policy. There is no more economically efficient way to reduce CO2 emissions. We can argue how high the carbon tax should be, but we should not be arguing about whether we should have it.

Even right wing economists agree that carbon tax is the best way to do it. The only case against it is a climate change denial case. It uses the laws of economics to attack the problem of climate change at the source. The issue is whether the tax rate is right and whether we allow corpos to buy "offset credits" that are actually worthless.

The planet and environment doesn't really care what we do or don't do ... it's us that are in trouble and will get wiped off the face of the earth if we don't change. And no amount of placating economic forces or wealthy elites will ever change that fact.

We can save our economy and bank accounts of the richest people and corporations ... but none of it will mean anything when our bones will be weathering away on a desert planet.
