At least the safety car made it first to the scene.

But, the medical car had to pick them up. Everybody's OK

Do you mean Mayländer

Also what is even happening here

[-] florge@feddit.uk 10 points 2 weeks ago

The safety car usually does some test runs on the thursdays, Mayländer must have crashed for once.

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, fixed it. Don't know what happened.

That doesn't look very safe

What is this video feed? Is it a test ahead of the race week-end that's broadcast on track?

Long ago, Bernie put together F1's own TV production unit. This is the raw feed. Networks will use this feed for all their productions.

As part of the regular preparation ahead of an F1 weekend, the safety car completes multiple systems checks and fast laps to ensure everything is ready for the weekend.

Looks like he wanted to put the car sideways as a last attempt to reduce speed, same as when initiating a drift.

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

You are at full speed coming into Parabolica, which in that thing is over 120mph. Hit the brakes. No brakes! Oh shit! Now, do what you can to take speed off the car. Maylander is a pro.

[-] CptEnder@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Oof doesn't AMR usually sell that car after the season? Rip. Glad maylander is ok.

Pifffffff.....it will buff out

[-] GBU_28@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

From the video it looked like the driver was trying to kick the rear out to drift or something. Why? I know performance car steering is very tight and looks different, but the actions looked intentional.

I am not a pro driver. I don't know shit.
