Japan Railway Group is privately owned company, and they ran a highly efficient train service.
That’s a fair point- but they do seem to be an outlier
It is, but it's not impossible. Chance is, if your government's priority sucks, public transport gonna suck either way, regardless they're government owned or private.
And I've got a laundry list of privatized rail companies that suck ass.
