I have been looking forward to this game. I love the trucks in space aesthetic, silly as it is, and I love space games where you can leave the cockpit like that. I played a demo during Next Fest and it seemed a bit janky, but maybe they fixed it or maybe it was just me not gelling with it at the time.

It's getting hammered quite a bit with negative reviews on Steam. I haven't bought it yet and I'm starting to feel that was a good decision. Apparently the balance is pretty awful. They misjudged the term "Recommended difficulty". Some people are describing it as a battery management simulator in a space truck.

9 hours in and I can confirm: on recommended difficulty, it's indeed a hard battery management game. I wanted to try the "less maintenance, more driving" difficulty level but I'll be honest: with Satisfactory full release tomorrow I don't think I'll be Star Truck-ing again anytime soon.

I got excited hoping this was set in John DeChancie's Skyway book series, oh well.

In those books, the trucks don't fly, they follow an ancient road across planets through Stargates basically. The series goes into the origin of the road and follows the trouble chasing the MC and his passengers.

Looks like book 1 is on Archive. https://archive.org/details/starrigger0000dech

Looks interesting but it’s a bit of a shame that it won’t be available on PC, I’d have given it a go. Hopefully it is in the future which’ll give them some time to add some updates as well.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your complaint, but it is available on PC?

edit: s/actually/available/

Autocorrect and inattention are not my friends recently.

Oh shit, that’s awesome! I didn’t see in the trailers that it was available on PC so I didn’t even check. Thanks for letting me know!
