Huawei has just launched the Mate XT, the world's first tri-fold smartphone which is impressive in every way.

Just call it a folding tablet

Huawei has already opened up sales of the Mate XT in China – it’s unlikely it will be sold elsewhere – with a starting price of ¥19999. That’s roughly $2,800 USD, making this device cost about $1,000 more than many book-style foldables available today.

10 inches and 16:11 aspect ratio! ITS SO CLOSE, I want it so bad!

While we're here, who has bets on the first quad folding phone?

Doesn't look like anything to me.

Huawei is making some seriously impressive stuff for a decent price, just wish I could get it in the States.

Lmao this is not one of the well priced ones.

Tho their other foldable is like $700 cheaper than the Samsung one with similar enough specs

They make decent stuff for an impressive price.

Wow, that video ad wasn't subtle at all lol

Isn't it gonna get scratched by just being in the pocket? One segment is not protected at all.

You mean like regular phones?

[–] Sasquatch@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

Sure but rigid phone screens are way more durable than folding ones

This is a lot more prone to scratches. It's like the first foldable from Huawei, very pretty but too expensive just to be damaged by looking at it funny

[–] MaXimus421@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

That is pretty cool man.

This is what I envisioned with "foldables".
