Eh. As an angsty teenager I loved the crow but when I try to rewatch it as an adult basically all it is is a ghost and an incestuous mob boss desperately trying to outgoth each other.
but the soundtrack kicks fucking ass
Oh yeah I won't deny that and it honestly has some wildly beautiful visual moments and really cool things but overall ... what I said is basically the synopsis.
You say that as if a goth-off is a bad thing…
That's what we need nowadays, a good ol' fashion 90's Goth-off!
hahaha yeah I wont deny a goth off is entertaining but its just, to me, not this huge iconic masterpiece people hold it up to be. It's a dumb fun movie with a ghost and a mob boss who fucks his sister.
And a ballin soundtrack. Jebus help that soundtrack is good.
Honestly, I think the tragedy surrounding Brandon Lee and also his father, along with their places in film history, legacy, etc, really pushes a lot of the cult following.
To be fair, it did have an intense shootout scene...
Too...soon?
It's been more than 22.3 years, I figured it was safe.
I mean, the creator of the graphic novel wrote it to deal with the tragic death of his fiance caused by a drunk driver. The movie became an instant cult classic due to Brandon Lee getting shot on set and dying shortly before the film was fully wrapped up. Some of his scenes had to be modified with first person views because he was dead!
It's not just the film, it's the lore lol
Uh, yeah, it is. What you just described kicks ass.
It doesn't seem like we've learned much about firearm safety since the first Crow.
Very mixed feelings on this. The first movie was iconic and I’m not sure that can be reproduced how never Skarsgard would, I think, be able to do the character justice.
I'm curious to see how bad it will be.
It's good to see there's still a decent team behind this. If they really must do it, then it can't be a shitshow like Crow 4 (or 3. Or 2). Although it getting stuck in Development He'll is a concern. Perhaps the project is genuinely cursed.
I know The Crow: City of Angels was screwed with by Miramax. From what I've read, the cast and crew were very happy with the sequel.
However, Miramax wasn't impressed and edited the film to closer match the original, taking out chunks here and there.
There is a fan edit that uses pictures of the deleted scenes with text descriptions to fill in the gaps. It's one of those films where we'll never see the original version.
Interesting. The film was bad, I could see some restoration improving it but it's unlikely to make it actually good. It would be interesting to see if a directors cut was available for some future release but there's ultimately probably not much call for it.
Bold casting young Raine Wilson.
