Definitely a strong play. Really looking forward to watching him play regularly once next season gets underway. Also a little confused, didn't they announce a few weeks ago that Wemby would not be playing in the summer league?

He was gonna do FIBA for France but changed his mind when he was drafted by the Spurs

They announced he wouldn’t be playing in the Cali Classic in Sac. Which he did not.

I really hope he and Chet pans out. I would love to see a duel of 2 stars like with Shaq and Yao.

Would be rly fun

I wasn't able to watch the game, but from what I'm reading he wasn't very impressive. Based on the amount of hype it was bound to happen. I hope he settles in as a star in the league for years to come.

Definitely a bust, time to start tanking for next season

[–] Ds4zkMjT@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol. Now that you say that I'm thinking about who the tank teams are gonna be...

Portland has a ton of talent but might be towards the bottom. Detroit too? Jazz? Rockets seem like they want to contend.

There's so much damn talent in the league that even the basement dwellers are still gonna have some dudes.

The issue I see with teams like the blazers is that they have enough talent to be vaguely competitive and get hopes up but never enough to actually be a threat. Unless they fully commit to a rebuild they’ll likely be perennial contenders for the play-in.

I feel like the pistons and rockets have been tanking… they seem to have young cores but idk what they’re development prospects are like.

The classic. Too bad to win a championship, but too talented to tank for the draft. Hopefully their young talent proves more lethal than expected and can push them to be more competitive. Post-dame will certainly be interesting if he is even going to be gone for next season.

With the amount of hype they have built for him, he is GOAT-conversation-level or Bust.

Sad because he could be an amazing player and people be disappointed.

I was at the game, and the amount of hype for Wemby was electric! But his performance tonight was really bad. Not saying he's a bust, but I was getting second hand embarrassment from his constant turnovers, airballs, and non-aggressive nature.

He's like a video game character I accidentally stretched when I turned the slider for legs and arms up high! And his fingers are alien-like! Can't wait to see what this kid does. He needs to bulk up, right?

[–] alertsleeper@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago

He does, it's weird not a lot of people talk about it in my experience.

He spoke about it himself, he said he needs not necessarily to bulk up but to get stronger at his core and be more stable
