That's really impressive, for a couple seconds I thought it was body paint
Historical Artifacts
Just a community for everyone to share artifacts, reconstructions, or replicas for the historically-inclined to admire!
Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.
Generally speaking, ruins should go to !historyruins@lemmy.world
Illustrations of the past should go to !historyillustrations@lemmy.world
Photos of the past should go to !HistoryPorn@lemmy.world
It really is fantastic, I thought it was a re-enactor or the like from the thumbnail. I don't think I've ever seen any ancient statue like it.
Lack of hair makes it more realistic. Hair has always been difficult to recreate in art.
Notice how there are no eyebrows or eyelashes either.
Those black ridges over the eyes kind of give the illusion of eyelashes with eyeliner though
Looks a bit like Teal'c, needs a gold emblem oh forehead.
indeed.
Teal'c, isn't that hot?
Extremely
That is a level of detail and realism that you didn’t see much at that time from what I understand
I have never come across an ancient Egyptian statue in this style before. It's interesting that even the statue of his wife from the same tomb is much more stylized.
(from your link)
Looks like the disguise Arnold wears in Total Recall
This one stayed around for significantly longer than two weeks
First thing I thought of too. 😂
Damn and it's made with wood. Crazy.
But this photo only shows from the shoulders up?
So much detail on the eyes but the ears are merely a suggestion.
Crossover between Teal'c and Lord Varys.
Check out Prince Rahotep: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53240551828_62a7518b20_b.jpg The modelling isn't great, but those eyes....
I saw this guy huffing galaxy gas outside the Wawa.
I can hear this man speak. Absolutely exquisite.
Happy they were chunky 🐒 too.
