This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.

Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

Humanity’s rapacious consumption is more than Earth and its climate can handle, which is driving an ecological crisis.

Yep, that's literally the whole point of capitalism, always more. Infinite growth in a finite system is impossible. And despite what some people are saying, we're definitely not in the part where exiting our finite system is viable.

Don't forget sexual selection for conspicous consumption and social status, plus evolutionary winner-takes-it-all. Capitalism is also a system driven by darwinian-like evolutionary processes.
