The NFL commissioner sounds pretty convinced that the new kickoff rule is going to undergo at least one change

TL/DR he wants to move the touchback to the 35

I like it. I wouldn't mind the 40 either. 35 to 40 feels like the range where kickers will really try to avoid it as much as possible.

If you want more returns stop with half measures.

  1. All kicks not landing in the dedicated zone shall be placed on the 50 yard line.
  2. Any ball that lands in the dedicated zone and goes out of bounds is placed where the ball went out.
  3. Any ball that lands in the dedicated zone and goes out of bounds in the end zone is a safety.

Either get rid of the kickoff entirely and start every drive at the 25 or go back to the old kickoff. The new kickoff is not a football play, I don’t like it all.

We don’t need to give the offenses any more advantages by moving the ball up even further. Teams already basically only need to get 2 first downs to get into FG range. And offenses are so poor in 2024 that’s about all the farther they get.

I’m gonna be sick if I watch another game that just consists of 50 yard FGs as the scoring
