Don’t you know that women can’t be electricians? It messes with the ovaries.

(Very big /S just in case someone isn’t paying attention)

[-] TheLobotomist@lemmy.world 78 points 1 year ago

Said the fucking influencer wannabe

[-] dylanTheDeveloper@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I'm going to influence the next election and no one will stop me

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 68 points 1 year ago

I would love for everyone to stop wanting to be influencers.

[-] MavTheHack@lemmy.fmhy.ml 55 points 1 year ago

Being an influencer today, is the modern day equivalent to going to Hollywood wanting to be a star in the 80s

[-] JoYo@lemmy.ml 47 points 1 year ago

false dilemma, you can be an electrician influencer.

that's like all I get on tiktok now is people showing off their finishing touches.

[-] Little8Lost@feddit.de 18 points 1 year ago

Or on youtime with our one and true eyebrow: ELECTROBOOM

[-] squaresinger@feddit.de 7 points 1 year ago

Imagine having your home's electics done by Electroboom. I think I'd rather try my luck by doing the electronics myself.

[-] Little8Lost@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

Solution: promise a nice tool if nothing breaks. I am sure then he is very careful

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

But what are you doing as an electrician influencer? Influence the meaty-chlorians to charge your devices?

[-] Little8Lost@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

here is a video about electrobooms holidays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFrMcYX6IV4
i think it is funny

Right? Lots of women work in trades. I actually thought pointlessly gendered had come to Lemmy!

[-] Trainzkid@lemmy.ml 37 points 1 year ago

Can women please stop trying to be OnlyFans models we need mothers and emotional support I'm begging you

Also +1 for those who pointed out how weirdly gendered this post was

[-] maltasoron@sopuli.xyz 27 points 1 year ago

Oh nice, ragebait. That surely brings back the authentic Reddit feeling.

And my axe! I also choose this guy's dead wife!

[-] Wreckronomicon@lemmy.fmhy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

This! Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

[-] prenupbutter@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I know it's a joke but these comments gave me a visceral reaction

[-] tox_solid@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

But are you also a mechanic? Cuz we need both.

[-] riskable@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago

I feel influenced.

[-] dmmeyournudes@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Mechanics get no bitches tho, influencers are swimming in orbiter pussy.

[-] PM_STEAM_KEYS@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Go learn a trade then. Be the change.

[-] Doherz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Exactly. Ain't no rule stating ladies can't pick up a wrench.

[-] Pixel@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 year ago

Let's have no influencers, FTFY

[-] Abrslam@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago

As a man who mildy electrocuted himself working on his own house yesterday I must say I'd rather be an influencer.

[-] TommySalami@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'm going to be annoying and tell you that you were mildly shocked, not electrocuted. "Electrocute" specifically refers to lethal exposure to electricity, as a portmanteau of "electric" and "execute".

Though I think the word is starting to go the way of "literally".

[-] VirulentAura@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If electrocution is lethal, mild electrocution would be sub-lethal and just make you with you were dead, yes?

[-] Zoot@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Am an electrician, we say electrocuted, shocked, or zapped depending on severity. I can tell you none of my coworkers who have been electrocuted died. Why be pendantic, when its rarely used in that sense.

Also a lethal amount of voltage can be damn near any voltage, dc, or ac. So still technically correct. Being hit by 240, or 120, can most certainly kill you. It just rarely does so unless something goes very wrong.

[-] Switorik@lemmy.fmhy.ml 0 points 1 year ago

Also incorrect. It's to be injured or killed by electric shock.

[-] AlaskaMan@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Anti-feminist take.

[-] SkyNTP@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Be the change you want to see.

[-] CoupleOfConcerns@lemmy.nz 6 points 1 year ago

Even when they enter the trades, some of them are still dreaming of becoming influencers. We had a builder at our house who popped up when I was scrolling through TIk Tok. We were talking one day about how he was going off on his own as a builder and all of a sudden we were talking about what was clearly his real dream of becoming some kind of car influencer.

[-] UserNotFound@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Electrician here.

[-] JohnnyKatswell@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago
[-] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Doesn't pay enough and the hours are insane

[-] Abrslam@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Of course I know that. And I did die. Just mildly. WooooooOOOOOOOooooooo!
