Looks really cool, sadly not my type of genre.

On a side note I (and maybe others) don't like the leave the lemmy app to check out your post. I get how the steam page is the most compressed source of information about the game but I would have appreciated a couple of Screenshots, even the ones from the steam page (which looks gorgeous BTW, love the layered clouds).

Thank you for your kind comment! And for calling my clouds gorgeous :D

I'm not new to Lemmy per se, but I am new to posting here, so I didn't really know exactly how things were going to display, especially with the automatic embeds that lots of social media sites do these days. I'll definitely take the effort to add pictures directly to the post in the future! I agree that not taking people off platform unless they really want to would be preferable, sorry!

What’s a “foddian” platformer?

ETA:

Ahhh like those “bad on purpose” flash games with crappy controls

Thanks yall

-bad on purpose was unfair my bad

Foddy is a game developer with a history of making games with frustrating control schemes. He originally got notoriety for QWOP, where you use the QWOP keys to control the runner's left and right knees and feet and run as far as you can. Lately he's better known for Getting Over It, a rage platformer where you play as a guy in a cauldron who moves by using a hammer to drag/throw himself around.

I think it's a reference to the Get over it with Patrick Foddie or whatever it was called. It's a rage game.

In my opinion, Foddians are best described as games that require you to learn a skill while testing your patience. Some involve some kind of platforming challenge, that can feel punishing, as a small mistake can cost you a chunk of progress.

I don't think calling them "bad on purpose" with crappy controls is very fair, as Getting Over It, Jump King, and A Difficult Game About Climbing, to name just a few, are all extremely well polished games.
