Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Mayor of Jackson, Miss., Is Indicted on Federal Corruption Charges

The mayor and two other local officials pleaded not guilty on Thursday after being accused of taking part in a scheme in which F.B.I. agents posing as real estate developers offered bribes.

they could literally target any politician in america and do this same BS successfully, but they chose the progressive black mayor in the most racist state in the nation to target. coincidence? I think not.

fuck the FBI, America's political police.

I see the NYT is now cracking down on using the internet archive to read their articles.

Not if the politician doesn't take bribes?

Like I'm not saying they don't target black "progressive" mayors more (lol they did the same to the mayor of my city years ago), but the mayors are taking the bribes.

We'll see as the case occurs in court I guess.

And Jackson is so deeply mismanaged that the feds had to take over their water system a couple years back because they were failing to deliver safe water to the residents, and in a state capitol no less. The issues were lack of maintenance and inefficient spending. I think the feds are figuring out that the rot is coming from the top.

the fact that you don't recognize that this matches the million other times in the past they have used these exact excuses to enact a right wing racist agenda for seizing power is incredibly disheartening.

I get that the FBI has done a lot of fucked up things but Jackson is a poorly run shit hole and a mayor, whatever their qualifications, who accepts bribes from power is a symptom of that problem.

You think developers aren't offering bribes? This is sound police work.
