Let's play a round of 'NUTLE' together as part of the Know Nut November challenge!

The rules: It follows the standard wordle rules. You guess any word with 5 letters in the comments. I'll reply with the rating. 🟩 means letter is correct and at the right place. 🟨 means the character appears at least once but is in the wrong place. ⬜ means the character is in the wrong place. And as this is know nut november, all guesses should be at least remotely related to the theme of nuts (in all its meanings). You can be creative!

Background of the challenge: Based on this meme, I decided I decided to initiate a little November nut identification challenge across different communities on Lemmy. After two days (#8, #9) on !treehuggers@slrpnk.net, one day (#10) at !birding@lemmy.world and one day (#11), today it's your turn to show how fast !dailygames@lemmy.zip can solve the riddle.

Happy guessing!

Ding ding ding - we got our winner here! πŸ†

For those, who never heard of chufa before:

Cyperus esculentus (also called chufa, tiger nut, atadwe, yellow nutsedge, earth almond, and in Chishona, pfende) is a species of plant in the sedge family widespread across much of the world.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyperus_esculentus

I know it from trips to Spain where it's quite commonly consumed as a kind of plant-based milkshake.

Great job (unless you saw the answer in the other comment and cheated πŸ˜‹)!

Tap for spoiler

I did not, only looked at top levels cause let’s be honest, nobody digs in. Heck, nobody will see this comment!

Then, again amazing work! I think it was quite a hard word that isn't necessarily part of the everyday vocabulary. ;)

And which comments you see depends on your client. I use Boost for Lemmy and all comments - no matter in which level - are always visible by default.

In case you'd like to keep guessing on your end be careful as the correct answer has been given further down. ;)

Thanks for the heads up !

I feel like this is an extreme punt, but:

CAULK

As is the waterproofing seals on a (bolting) nut?

There we go: the second greenie unveiled! I really like how all of you are really thinking outside the box!

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Does crura count?

Edit Ah wait no r's

[–] rbn@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

I'm a foreign speaker, so had to look that up first but as it's part of female genitals, it's at least remotely related to nuts. That counts and although there is indeed no R in the word, your guess gets three greenies!
