Very US centric list and Fuck copyright, but fascinating nonetheless

Why is it so US centric? Did nothing happen anywhere else in the world involving other countries?
It’s written in english wikipedia, on which last time I checked over 50% of contributers live in the US
Dang. Maybe some people in other countries should do something about it? Giving me the same vibes as Trump warning to back out of funding from NATO causing Europeans to side-eye each other.
Wikipedia is headquartered in San Francisco. Imagine if Trump mandates the non-profit through Executive Order to force Wikipedia to charge money for non-Americans to access all their hard work?
wikipedia is foss, it’ll just be forked
well us europeans tend to contribute more to our local wikipedias. like I have 5,000 edits on french wikipedia and only 700 on english wikipedia
"Image restricted due to copyright" should not exist for something that apparently is an important thing in societal knowledge.
Jesus that's a rabbit hole and a half. Thanks for that. I loved every minute exploring that list.
Great scroll until you reach the 1930's and start getting more and more "Image restricted due to copyright" and have to start clicking through to external sites. I will bookmark it though, for a day when I can be bothered to open each photo individually.
That, and the 30s/40s get fucking daaaark
True, though you generally expect that going in. Definitely wasn't expecting an increasing number of photos to just not be there.
Good wiki hole to fall down.
