MODERATORS

I like watching good comedies, any suggestions down in the comments would be wonderful.

I have loved watching IT Crowd, Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The King of Queens, Cunk of Earth, Cunk of Britain, pretty much all of Ricky Gervais, and more shows that I'm not recalling at the moment.

Edit: I've also watched Psych, The Good Place, B99, Black Books, Third Rock From The Sun, Parks and Rec, Superstore, and Silicon Valley

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I may get back into it again since everybody keeps suggesting it to me

[–] AndrewZabar@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

It’s streets ahead!

[–] six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com 11 points 1 year ago

Didn't spot 30 Rock, so I'll put that suggestion in

Also 100% agree with everyone who suggested Community

Add to that Schmiggadoon!, Shrinking and Trying... appleTV+ has some excellent comedies, many now in second and third seasons so plenty to binge!

I’m absolutely loving “What We Do In The Shadows”

Older shows I still rewatch include Community and Psych. Both are absolutely extraordinary.

I big time vouch for Joe Pera Talks With You. Not enough people talk about it. It's so comfy, so funny, and goes by quicker than you want it to. Perfect show!

[–] itscherriedbro@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

And also bajillion dollar properties

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kevin Can Fuck himself sounds like an interesting show.

[–] itscherriedbro@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's freaking amazing. Hooked me right away

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Just tried out an episode. It's a little too dark for me.

[–] itscherriedbro@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well hopefully some of the other shows can fulfill what you're looking for! I highly recommend trial & error to everyone I run into.

  • Workaholics
  • The Righteous Gemstones
  • Platonic
  • Arrested Development
  • 30 Rock
  • Fired on Mars
  • Shrinking
[–] six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Oh how did I forget about Arrested Development? Amazing show, at least for the first 3 seasons.

Season 4 was kind of a dud for me, and I didn't finish season 5.

Thanks for being so amazing guys. Last time I made a recommendation post on Reddit, nobody gave me any comments.

[–] brianrlawson@midwest.social 5 points 1 year ago

My warm, comfy, tried-and-true go-to is Scrubs. Funny, heartfelt, an in the upper echelon of quick biting wit.

[–] leftabitcharlie@lemmy.film 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I feel like you'd like Ted Lasso, also second the users who've said Ghosts (both US and UK).

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ted Lasso is amazing. The recent episodes are a bit different, I'm interested in the development of the show with the direction their heading on.

[–] leftabitcharlie@lemmy.film 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think the tone is really reminiscent of stuff like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill or Love Actually. Even though it got a bit more sad this season, it's very wholesome and easy to watch.

I'm going to suggest some older shows, they may be hard to find on streaming, but they are on physical media:

NewsRadio:

Titus:

Better Off Ted:

If you like IT Crowd, then Black Books is for you. One of the best comedies of that era. Start with the Grapes of Wrath Episode.

Peep Show is also great.

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Black Books is fucking amazing. I will check out Peep Show as well.

  • Ghosts (the US version)
  • Righteous Gemstones
  • Miracle Workers
  • Based on a true story
  • Blockbuster
  • The Great
  • The Goldbergs
  • Fresh Off the Boat
  • Killing It
  • Upload

Those are the ones that fall in and around the comedy genre that i recall enjoying in the last year...

If you're looking for some older UK centric ones

  • This Country
  • Inbetweeners
  • Two pints of lager
  • Fresh Meat
  • The Fast Show
  • Harry Enfield and Pals
  • My Family

If you liked IT Crowd and have a general interest in IT then check out Silicon Valley and it you like Chris O'Dowd in particular then check out "The Big Door Prize"

[–] freamon@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Ghosts (the US version)

How can you say this, when that version doesn't have Charlotte Richie in it. Not even once!

[–] tjhart85@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

But it's got Rose McIver in it and she's great (sidenote iZombie also let her show she's got a LOT of range)

[–] d4nm3d@demmy.co.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Charlotte Richie i know.. i know.. but we do get Rose Mciver and i'm a big fan :)

Two British reccs fore you: Peep Show and Alan Partridge. Both are genius, as in constantly hilarious throughout with no gaps.

[–] yessikg@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Deadloch, Class of 07, Psych, Ash vs Evil Dead, A Touch of Cloth

[–] yip-bonk@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
New Girl
Party Down
Scrubs

[–] Very_Bad_Janet@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I loved all of these. I'd recommend:

  • The Mindy Project
  • Toast of London
  • Crashing
  • Taskmaster
  • Man Down
  • Nighty Night (this one might be too dark for you, but give it a try)
[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I love Taskmaster but can't find any good sites with all the episodes. I'll try your other picks as well.

One of my favorite people is Andy Daly. Check out his show called "Review" that was on Comedy Central a few years ago. There's 3 seasons of some really funny shit.

[–] kratoz29@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Well since you mentioned B99 which is the current show I'm watching it's worth to mention the other three I have watched so far (that I remember):

Malcolm in the Middle, Friends and The Office US.

[–] mrnotoriousman@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I'm halfway through the first season of The Bear. The first couple episodes were a bit more serious setting the stage but it's got me cracking up now

Spanakopita! I can never eat Greek food without hearing dr. venture yelling that out

[–] Faydaikin@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

'Dead Lile Me' is a good comedy series. A bit niche, maybe, but really good nontheless.

[–] I_Am_Jacks_____@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

Feel Good is great
