I try to use it like the original Reddit vision, which was that up and downvotes are for comments that I think add to the conversation. I'll upvote a comment that I disagree with if it's well thought out and well articulated (then I'll say why I disagree).

The exception is when it's a thread looking for factual information. If someone asks for objective information, I'll downvote wrong answers.

I'm glad you have it managed now - must be life changing.

I was eating truly obscene amounts of chocolate for a while there. I still eat more than most people, but not so extreme.

When you got diagnosed, was it an "ah hah" moment?

That's all pretty interesting. I seem to have very little in the way of susceptibility to addiction, though sugar in general (and chocolate specifically) would be a big exception.

I'm not super knowledgeable about ADHD, and because one thing I do know is that it happens on a spectrum, I suppose it's possible.

Not redheaded.

I never really did much in the way of drugs. When I was a kid I was given morphine in the hospital, and that made me hallucinate like crazy. When dentists used to use Novocaine, they always had to give me twice as much as they normally would. I only tried pot once, (well, twice, a day or two apart) about a dozen years ago, and I didn't notice any effect.

To my knowledge I'm not ADHD, though I'm not sure how I'd know if I was.

How about you?

I wonder if you and I are similar. I wouldn't say I don't get drunk; if I drink enough I get all of the non-fun things like being unsteady on my feet, and I wouldn't be safe to drive. On the other hand, I don't get any of the fun things people talk about like being more relaxed, getting uninhibited, whatever a "buzz" is, etc.

Fire temple you say? How about the temple in WoW firelands (part of cataclysm): image

I was being a little factitious, though honestly I don't know what a tibetan monk does day to day. I had an uncle who was a Trappist monk a bunch of years ago, but that's a different thing. I certainly didn't have a bunch of illicit sex in my mental image of them.

We were restricted even on some proprietary software (especially if it was from a foreign owned company), but you'd be surprised how much scrutiny some of the major packages have had.

A lot of government stuff requires that they have complete provenance of all code in the system. When you have people contributing to it from different places - potentially different countries - they get nervous about it.

Or become a monk, have a bunch of sex, and pay off the occasional blackmail out of the donation funds. I mean, it seems like monks have a great life except for the celibacy thing, so if you take that off the table, maybe it's not a bad deal.

I've mostly been a .world user, but have this alt account on .ca as a backup. I logged into it to make sure I didn't have anything in my inbox, and noticed that everything loads so much faster. In both cases I'm using the browser interface from my tablet, sorting by all. On .world, there's a pause before the text comes up, then the thumbnails and graphics slowly populate. On .ca, it all pretty much loads instantly.

Is it just the number of users being a lot bigger? More community activity? Hardware differences? Running different software versions? A combination of these? I'm curious.

It seems like most times I go to my .world account, I get the bad gateway error. Is there a fix for this?
