Strictly speaking, most of the American Midwest doesn't have any food at all. They grow hard unappetizing corn to feed animals and for ethanol.

This is yet another reason we desperately need good public transit. We all get old. Why do we have to choose between endangering other people's lives and participating in society?

Gladly. Freedom of religion goes both ways. They are free to practice their religion for the same reason they are not allowed to punish people for not following it.

Civil liberties don't vanish because a place delcares itself Christian...

I see you're not actually interested in exploring these ideas, just insisting they won't work with bad faith questions.

People like you are why landlords still exist.

That's such an amazing fucking quote

It may or may not be "condescending" to tell people they're wrong, but it doesn't make them right or change the basic facts.

I'd recommend checking out a different community since you seem to be very invested in making excuses for pro car people, and less interested in challenging people's assumptions about cars.

If it takes 6 hours to walk across your city it's not rural. Your city needs comprehensive public transportation.

We aren't discussing tactics for convincing people of anything. We're discussing facts. And the fact is there's no reason public transit can't work in rural areas as you stated.

Let's say I decide I've had enough with this whole Federation business and that humanity would be better represented by a Starfleet that follows my particular ideology. Assuming I could get enough people for crew and support, why can't I start my own Starfleet?

I could replicate ship parts until I have a couple vessels. Go to new worlds and present myself as the official first contact of humanity. I could fly to Vulcan or Bajor and tell them no actually my organization represents humanity.

What's going to stop me?

Censorship is a real problem, but you don't have to embrace it. That's just making the problem worse.

I'm missing something here. Admittedly, I'm making the assumption that blowing up hospitals is a bad thing to do.

Been high nonstop for years. I realize it's bad for my health. But at least being high feels good.

My future is on a planet becoming increasingly unhabitable, under a government becoming increasingly fascist, doing nothing but working and still not being able to afford rent or food, never traveling, never making real friends much less finding a life partner, water quickly becoming a luxury, and with zero chance of ever retiring.

So why even bother?

Would make the show watchable and cut like half the time.

Using specific words and phrasing with the government to get a desirable outcome is literally what some of us have to do with the police.
