I have totally seen job postings at places I work and asked HR or management if I can refer someone I know...and they tell me they aren't actually hiring for it.

It's HUGE and it's a tourist attraction of sorts. When friends visit they always ask if we can go to Powell's. If you search for things to do in Portland or even grab some tourist pamphlets, it's typically listed.
These morons at the bar were talking about how they plan to vote 3rd party to "show them" they're sick of two party.
We're all sick of two party but voting 3rd party right now doesn't magically fix it. And in this particular election it could possibly mean you never get to vote again.
