And do the scriptures imply demons speak Latin? Because that, specifically, is the part Catholicism made up.

This exact thing will happen when society collapses, and we will all call it survival of the fittest.
What would you have these poor people do? Sit on top of the rumble of their homes and watch their kids die of thirst and hunger? Watch them suffer from open wounds? Or take some water, some canned foods, antibiotic cream and gauze from a fully insured store?
The ones taking tvs and things like that are foolish, at least in the short term, but they may be able to trade those items for supplies later.
I'm athiest, but spent many years in church, so here's my understanding of why he references the Old testament:
Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, not to abolish it. (Matthew 5:17-18) So the Law, which is found in the OT, is still in effect. Each denomination and individual decides for themselves what parts they'll pay attention to.
Many Christians throw out the entire Old Testament, but most just pick and choose which parts they want enforced. They love the 10 commandments, for example. But they also wear mixed fabrics, eat pork & shrimp, and some get tattoos...all of which are forbidden in the OT.
This guy plays Pick & Choose. If it's in the OT and he can use it to make this country a "Biblical Republic", he will use those verses. If it means he can't eat crawfish etouffee, then that verse clearly doesn't matter to him.
The scariest part about this dude is that he interprets everything thru the lens of scripture. And he does not believe the separation of church and state is real.
In other news: see what happens after every devastating hurricane. Anyone else remember Katrina?
I know my mixed martial arts stop bullets.

Was it a sudden distension? I think you need to go to Dr.
Definitely happening in Louisiana. My insurance broker called me in a panic yesterday to let me know how high my renewal will be this year, and it is very, very high.
I'm going to eat the increase because there's no other company offering lower rates. I live in an area hit by hurricanes, and I know insurance companies are for-profit businesses, so I've been expecting this.
At this point, I'm just grateful the company didn't pull out completely.
I'm older than most of y'all, 70. In high school, it was not unusual to have the student parking lot filled with pickup trucks...most of which had shot guns on gun racks hanging on the back window.
It's so weird to think about that now, how very normal it seemed at the time.
He is truly his own worst enemy.
And another Trump endorsement fails spectacularly.
Yep, you've summed it up. Earth will indeed be here forever. The question is whether it will be habitable. And humans don't seem to give a single care, as long as their life span will be over before the environment /climate poops out. And as long as they can take in money with no concern about their child, grandchildren, great-,grandchildren, and on down the line.
We can change this, we can mitigate the damage, but the powers that be refuse to acknowledge their negative impact on the future of the planet, they do not care...as long as they rake in the money.
I've got children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and I CARE. Jesus Pete, how hard is it to see beyond the end of our own noses?
Not sure it was a quirk. More likely a carefully thought out practice to insure the hold Catholicism had on people. Priests spoke and read Latin while most laypeople did not. Having to address demons in Latin ensured that the average person needed the priest to help them out, for a fee/donation of course.
I was a very poor excuse of a Catholic when I was a kid. But I still remember Latin being spoken in Mass, and I remember the priest discouraging his congregation from reading the bible for themselves, cuz no way would we understand it without his expertise to explain it to us.
Religion is some weird crap, man.
