If you are still looking for an alternative, https://lemmy.zip/ is a solid choice. Similar moderation policy than lemm.ee.

Monthly reports: https://lemmy.zip/post/39959863

Lots of lemm.ee users moving there: https://lemmy.zip/post/40323214

If you are in the UK (where lemmy.zip is geoblocked due to UK laws), https://feddit.uk/ is a good option.

You can export your subscriptions, blocks and saves from "Settings - Import/Export settings" and then import them on your new account.

Thank you @ptz@dubvee.org for the new community!

Great, thanks!

Hello,

I'm the mod, could you please create the community on dubvee.org? Then I'll lock this one.

Thank you, I also subscribe from a few other instances: https://piefed.social/post/846330?sort=new#post_replies

I've been using Piefed for the last few weeks as my daily driver, no issue so far.

flair

Lemmy doesn't show flairs anyway, so no community can reliably use them, they're just accessory "nice labels" at the moment.

[–] Blaze@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Depends. Some people will find it handy to have the past posts and comments in the active community.

[–] Blaze@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

It's not ideal, but we have a time constraint with lemm.ee shutting down at the end of the month.

We can always move to other inistances later.

sh.itjust.works

I like SJW, but I know some people don't want to browse !movies@sh.itjust.works on their work network due to the name.

Piefed the only instance

Piefed.social is the flagship instance. There is https://feddit.online/. Over time other Piefed instances will probably appear, but we have to make a decision and migrate before the end of the month.

This is a poll that will stay open for at least 48 hours to see where people would like this community to move.

In alphabetical order:

https://discuss.tchncs.de/

https://lemmy.zip/

https://piefed.social/

https://sopuli.xyz/

Please upvote in the comments the instances you prefer

I would like the community to move to https://lemmy.zip/

Presentation of the feature: https://piefed.social/post/667045

Example of successful migration: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/45876492

Our next step would be to give this feature a try. What would basically happen is that

Should the migration not work, we would still be able to use the current community, and then manually migrate elsewhere.

The objective of this post is to address any questions or issues before we move forward. We are probably going to leave it open for 48 hours, and then reassess based on the community feedback.

Mods are discussing at the moment, we’ll create a poll in the coming days.

We still have some time as lemm.ee will only shutdown at the end of the month.

The Piefed community migration feature looks promising, but we have to troubleshoot a bit with @rimu@piefed.social to see how it can work.

!casualeurope@piefed.social

Follow up of this post https://lemm.ee/post/65711569 on !yurop@lemm.ee .

In one sentence, this is a casual community for Europeans.

Feel free to have a look, we have random historical facts, pictures, local events and discussions

!casualeurope@piefed.social

When this community was started, the idea was to have a !casualconversation@lemm.ee version, but focused on Europe. Yurop was selected as a name to show that it was less serious, but it seems like it still gets associated with https://old.reddit.com/r/YUROP/ , which is more about making memes about the Europeans news than casual conversation.

I have recently opened !casualeurope@piefed.social to solve this. Feel free to join us there, there is already some conversation going!

Where will content be posted now?

I will personally post content on the new community. Piefed has some nice features that can be used, so it's a good opportunity.

What will happen to !yurop@lemm.ee?

Not sure yet, but as the community wasn't that active, it will probably just become inactive. I could also lock it to push people to the new community, but that probably won't be necessary at first.

Feel free if you have any questions
