I started with boogiepop phantom, and was really excited when the newer anime came out. It's a really unique series in general.
I talked to him at length, but I still chose to kill him. Maybe if he sounded even a bit remorseful about what he did I'd get letting him go, but he sounded like a bastard about it and I feel more for the people who were aggrieved by him.
I hope you're an early adopter, given the level of resolve you have towards this.

No, I think the side using starvation tactics and bombing civilians is pretty bad. Sounds like war crimes to me in terms of definition we've all agreed upon.
