The whole point of this was asking why Democrats are catering to wealthy conservative donors instead of progressive or left leaning voters. I just stated the reason why. The 1 billion dollars collected from small donors every four years for a presidential run is nice. But it's nothing compared to what the wealthy dump into messaging and campaigning constantly. Until such time as small donors can even come close to remotely matching that. Sustaining entire media Outlet ecosystems to counter the propaganda from conservatives. Democrats aren't going to give up trying to get some of that wealthy conservative money

That's a mere pittance compared to what the wealthy actually spend on conservatives and messaging. That's 1 billion dollars every 4 years. Fox news, daily wire, OANN, and all the myriad of other propaganda outlets churn through more than that a year.

They do, but as a Missourian. I can 100% say they have no clue about how to do it. Legalizing abortion again, but electing the man that will get it nationally banned. It may be largely willful ignorance and apathy. But that doesn't mean it can't also be sexism and misogynistic attitudes too. They can support their personal right to choose but not give a damn about anyone else. After all there were Nazi jews. I have little doubt there are misogynistic women. For some of them it's about there personal rights. Cognitive dissonance makes it for some really f***** up situations.

I'd say you're right. But they need to understand that capitalists will always need to find someone new to exploit, and fascists will always need to find someone new to scapegoat. They're only safe on the other side of the world so long.

This is Ozma. They're known for heavy bias and axe grinding. It attacks Democrats and that's what was important to them. Not factualness or logic.

People trying like crazy to push all the blame on Democrats and Harris. Because after all. If they only did this one magic thing they would never lose. Right? It's freaking magic. How could they lose.

Don't get me wrong. Democrats absolutely deserve some blame. But I'm sure all the people that spent the whole general shouting that "they're both the same", "blue maga", "genocide Joe/Harris" surely couldn't have disenfranchised and demotivated people to stay home. They all got played and are trying to absolve themselves.

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Yep, I'm sure at least a few were demotivated by claims of "they're the same!" Or the hyperbolic brow beating of those chanting "genocide Joe/Harris" or "blue maga ". What we needed is solidarity. But the left is only good at dividing itself.

The United States has shipped Munitions and weapons to Israel for decades. It didn't magically become about genocide just because you pretend it did. I would absolutely argue that we should reconsider or slow down or hold off on sending them more. But that wouldn't have stopped anything. And it would be foolish to think otherwise. And yet there are still so many fools.

Let's play a fantasy game for a moment. Biden cancels all future arms shipments to Israel. You're happy and the situation is now resolved right? The zionists in the house and Senate would never unanimously override his veto. And just continue those shipments. Then he would have burned any political Capital he had for negotiations and goodwill. Leaving us with less chance to stop it than before. And only empowering Netanyahu and the ghoulish zionists.

This fantasy black and white thinking is a curse. That you and so many others are so terminally online. Getting high on your own supply of passing this rhetoric back and forth that you believe it. Sometimes things are complicated and have nuance. But what's the point of nuance when you can just virtue signal for nothing and get nothing in return. You won. The Biden ministration nor the Harris administration will be sending any more arms or support to Israel after january. And no one will be arguing for a ceasefire either. Everyone is saved. And you certainly weren't played a fool. Congratulations.

They've been paying attention. They're just sealioninig in bad faith. Look at their post history. They desperately want an authoritarian capitalist like Milieu in Argentina to have dome measure of success. And will gladly cheer on a fascist like Trump if he will make them a few dollars more. No matter how many children are killed because of him.

If you go through the proper channels? Absolutely. If you have babysitters watching him and putting restrictions on what he can do like his last term? Absolutely. When his administration's babysitters called him out and left the field. Telling people not to elect him again. And now he's just surrounding himself with Craven yes men. And is going to go outside of normal procedure. To put more Yes Men in place. You can't count on the lumbering giant anymore.

This is only the beginning. Once Trump's actually in office again and starts attacking minorities this will likely ramp up considerably. Good job americans. Why do we have to be so f****** ignorant.

Only if you count the likes of Manchin or Sinema. Which would be foolish.

A fresh single and video off their upcoming third album Pendulum. I can't recommend this Duo from Texas enough. Their previous albums have been extremely solid for me.

The greatest show unearthed returns with a brand new single perfectly timed for the season. But who are we kidding. Every day is Halloween.

What is Post-punk (en.wikipedia.org)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Eldritch@lemmy.world to c/postpunk@lemmy.world

Post-punk is a diverse genre that emerged from the cultural milieu of punk rock in the late 1970s. Originally called "new musick", the terms were first used by various writers in the late 1970s to describe groups moving beyond punk's garage rock template and into disparate areas. Sounds writer Jon Savage already used "post-punk" in early 1978. NME writer Paul Morley also stated that he had "possibly" invented the term himself. At the time, there was a feeling of renewed excitement regarding what the word would entail, with Sounds publishing numerous preemptive editorials on new musick. Towards the end of the decade, some journalists used "art punk" as a pejorative for garage rock-derived acts deemed too sophisticated and out of step with punk's dogma. Before the early 1980s, many groups now categorized as "post-punk" were subsumed under the broad umbrella of "new wave", with the terms being deployed interchangeably. "Post-punk" became differentiated from "new wave" after their styles perceptibly narrowed.

The genera itself being foundationally typified by groups such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Wire, Public Image Ltd, the Pop Group, Cabaret Voltaire, Magazine, Pere Ubu, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Devo, Gang of Four, the Slits, the Cure, and the Fall. But not limited to. And has spun off many sub genera such as alternative rock, dark-wave, cold-wave, synth-wave, synth-pop, and some indie rock
