I hate to be the one to do this to you, but old.lemmy.world has infinite scrolling... and is designed to look exactly like old reddit

PSA for all former apollo users: voyager for lemmy (wefwef.app) is what you’re looking for. Go to the site, press the share button, and press add to Home Screen. I always held out hope that apollo would be reincarnated for lemmy, but I never expected it to happen this fast and to work this well

The amount of grain still going to Africa is very significant, not to mention whatever processing then export of secondary products eventually goes to developing countries. And grain is a global commodity. Without the grain deal, Ukraine doesn’t have any other viable option to export at volume that can compete with sea exports, given that the European rail gauges are different and the physical logistics of transporting it are cost prohibitive and limited by capacity. That raises the price of Ukrainian grain which raises the price of grain globally since it all competes in the same global market. And those who would be most affected are countries who are both food importers and poor, where Africa and the Middle East are top of the list.

Rising grain prices sparked the Arab spring, were part contributor to the political and economic collapse of Sri Lanka, and in general higher food prices have a very disproportionate effect on the poor everywhere.

And the quality of discussion gets lower every time I go on. Has been for years, incrementally, but the rate really increased after June 30. I used to be able to get pretty far down through 4 or 5 worldnews threads before I ran into something so stupid I closed the entire window, but now it happens on just about every thread I open.

Russia has claimed to destroy more of every system than the west has sent, before they were even fully sent. Visually confirmed loss data has proven that Russia lies consistently about loss ratios vs Ukraine and number of systems and personnel lost, and have been throughout the entire war. Ukraine lies to some degree too, but no where near as much the Russians lie. You can believe me if you want, and I know you probably won't, but for everyone else reading, anyone telling you to take the russian claims as truth (or Ukrainian for that matter, or anywhere that isn't open source and/or transparent about its methodology with plenty of proof to back it up), is probably lying to you, either willfully or ignorantly.
