I worked in games for a number of years, so on top of being exhausted coming home, it was near impossible to not fall into work mode when I tried playing games for fun.

Ever since I was a kid, I've loved the video game series Thief, where curse words are often replaced with the word taffer. I chose it as my username, but then it stuck as my actual name when I later came out. Most people just assume I'm related to the guy from Bar Rescue and not that I'm a big fan of a stealth game from the 90s
I browse Lemmy almost exclusively, but adding "reddit" to the end of a Google search is still the easiest way to solve issues I'm looking up.
When I found Furi a couple years ago, 6h24 became my most played song of the year and it wasn't even close.
Super informative. I bounced off of Mastodon when I tried it, so a lot of fediverse concepts have been alien to me. This helped a lot.
It definitely takes an active effort to enjoy games when it's also your work. What worked for me was finding the weird niche stuff that didn't resemble the stuff I worked on at all. I imagine if you're a developer that it could also help get the creative juices flowing too.
