Is anybody surprised by this? An individual would have to be wildly ignorant of the world to find this shocking. She is not only mixed race, but neither of those races are Chinese or white. In fact, she is Indian and Black, I would be shocked if there wasn't any racism, lmao.
So...uh...is everyone ready to join those of us slandered as "doomers" in reality now? Nothing of significance has been done or is being done, and this problem is not going away. It is only going to get worse. Unless everyone joins us in reality, it is over. I'm not exactly hopeful, as the "I hate all science" party just swept both houses, along with the presidency and they already had the courts.
Gonna take a two month breather?
Idk where you were 2004, but the conservatives you speak of certainly weren't around. In fact, I'm quite sure they never existed, considering conservatism in the US has always been closely tied to white supremacy and Christian nationalism.
Russia isn't to blame for this. That's a cop out. Centuries of white supremacy, colonialism, Christian nationalism, civic religion, and unchecked capitalism have led to this moment.
Coked up on ketamine...🤔
Most places in the US are in addition to the bill, it's just that many people who don't carry cash, so you can add it to your debit/credit on a separate line, but leaving cash is always an option. Some places that deal with a lot of non-tippers have mandatory gratuity or make it mandatory for groups above a certain size. Either way, I think it's bullshit that the employees' wages are not accounted for in menu pricing, and I'm expected to figure it out.
Apparently, that's how it was with my great-uncle (close to my parents' age) in the eighties. He says my grandma was an asshole because she asked him if he just found out because everyone else had been known.
Ya'll tip over there? I thought the US was the only place with that assbackward practice.
I see many folks here mentioning Dave Chapelle as a right-wing comedian, which is a joke in itself. Dave Chapelles' personal politics and much of the politics mentioned in his stand-up are not right-wing. He has a blend of center right/center left beliefs and supports progressive candidates. I understand there is controversy with his LGBTQ+ material and commentary, but that does not make all of his politics right-wing. This strikes me as coming from people who have little exposure to the black American community, where these attitudes are prevalent regardless of the individuals' other politics. It is slowly improving, but it isn't great. Frankly, I don't know why it is he continues to antagonize and harp on this for hours at a time. It is very strange and I know he's capable of much funnier material.
That isn't a bad deal at all, especially considering the costs of a single showing.
Valid, though in some cases dark, points. The US is one of, if not the largest, per capita emitters on the planet, though. Our military alone is a top emitter. I just find the outlook for meaningful change in this country grim and the effects we've already begone to see from climate change are pretty severe.
