I love Lemmy but your question is legit. I just signed up with lemmy.world because lemmy.ml is down.

Before making a post in lemmy.world guess what? lemmy.world isn't responding. I know they have scheduled maintenance at 9 CET but it was 20 minutes before that.

There are weird things happening in the-federation.info page:

  1. Users count is fluctuating for a few days
  2. Some instance report wrong numbers such as lemmyonline.com which reports 97,024 posts where as the actual posts are less than 50 posts

Same here.. it’s frustrating, loading a post would take like 10 minutes.

Hopefully Lemmy admins/developers would solve this issue. It’s the only social media I use now.

Probably enshitification!

Look it up.

I did use pihole to block it. Sadly, not everyone have the technical knowledge to do so.

That’s why I’d recommend apple products even though they’re not that great.

This is why I don’t buy Android.

The software isn’t optimized enough from smoothness and battery consumption perspective.

Also, the ROM that’s usually comes from the manufacturer is either spyware, bloated, or just crap. You need technical knowledge and risking bricking your device to install custom ROM.

The hardware, which is my least concern, depends on the company you buy from.

My SONY smart tv (with apps disabled) would phone home like ~200 times a minute.

Losing Apollo was the main reason.

However this whole saga unveiled other disturbing things such as how Reddit is leveraging its communities for advertising in this post: https://lemmy.world/post/837198

Putin benefited from:

  1. Showed that the largest military group couldn’t complete a coup
  2. No longer need to justify the damage Wagner group done
  3. Shows Russian that he prefer to negotiate rather than bloodshed
  4. Shows international theatre that Russian troops are loyal, peaceful, and follow orders
  5. Identified disloyal government officials who sided with Wagner if any

And the list goes on

Wagner head got out of it and terrorisim accusations in the future

I’m still thinking that it’s not over. Moscow still on high alert.

There’s something up. Both putin and Wagners head aren’t stupid.

I feel it’s a plan to justify future actions.

I also suspect they’re all bots.

I joined when users were 10k and I didn’t see any increase in engagement including comments and upvotes.
