The hope I have is that one day, with all the wealth this country has amassed through capitalism, the government can redistribute that wealth to improve the quality of life for citizens. Use that wealth to improve health care, affordable education, build a shit load of homes for people, I can go on and on.

You have to keep in mind that most, maybe majority of people, are just consumers. They don't care about the background stuff going on as long as they can access their favorite source of content. You can say the same thing about Twitter. People won't care until it directly affects them.
