Judging by how many people wear clothes made by children in sweatshops, I'd say the wants of the many seem to outweigh the needs of the few.

so you have some established right to indicate which of us can speak as to what’s best for the Canadian people (you) and the other can’t (me). Because…reasons?

What in what I wrote leads you to this?

I correctly noted this doesn't affect you and that it does affect mamy.

Your position, as far as I can tell is:

If the reason for doing the wrong thing is “the jobs” then you need to rethink your reasoning.

... It’s bad policy to concede to the US right now.

I think that the jobs really do matter to a lot of people and that when the US has significantly more leverage you Canada has very few options.

Again, noting that your position really hurts a lot of people doesn't mean you can't have a position rather, it's that you support a position that really hurts people.

Canada... Depends what kind of visit really. I captain a few rec teams, so breaks or dislocations, we'll go to emergency, get triaged and wait for a bit.

If it's somwthing I'd like to get checked out but not urgent, I'll schedule an appointment with my family dr, might take a week or 2?

For something sooner, I'll go to one of the several walk in clinics nearby. Wait time really varies but generally pretty quick as long as I get there a little early.

Nope, re-read what I wrote. What in there says you can't come up with a valid opinion?

It's more "your opinion doesn't seem to give any weight, relief or aid to those who are affected in any way shape or form."

It's a trade negotiation, it's literally all about the jobs.

I get that you aren't affected but thousands are.

By your logic, we should just not do anything with our largest trading partner and I dunno, just wait for almost half a decade until we like the administration?

And correct.

So far, the replies have been "everyone should just drop all American services, that's a minor detail for IT" and "a trillion dollar trade negotiation isn't actually about jobs."

I get the kneejerk reaction but damn, this is silly bordering on depressing.

The attitude is coming from wishful thinking untempered by knowledge or experience.

No, I guess being well read and having empathy kind of allow me to consider how things affect other Canadians who are not me?

Lol, A) it's pretty clear you have no idea what the DST is and what it does.

B) Jesus lord, for most offices, converting off Microsoft would be an insane task and a huge IT cost.

I know Lemmy skews young but this is nonsensical.

The cavalier attitude is a big give away. Usually folks worried about their kids and mortgages understand the costs.

Just seemed like a kinda cute story. Apparently, Carney's been an Oilers fan since the 80s. Makes him seem more human and normal (remember that infamous Harper commercial were he assured us he was a normal human who liked human things like streaming television and he had several favourite shows? Goddamn weirdo.)

Apologies if this should be elsewhere!

Hi Folks, a lot of people had good thoughts about shows on CBC Gem and I realized we hardly touched movies. So, let's do that!

I figure a few of of us are trying CBC Gem, might help if we shared knowledge and recommendations!

For obvious reasons I'm trying to be more local and cutting out American produce, so I figured a CSA box (Community Supported Agriculture) would be a good move. Unfortunately, DuckDuckGo has given a bewildering collection of results and I've heard some CSAs are less good than others. Have any of you fine folks used any, have any recommendations or anything else that might help?

Very well put. Saw it on bluesky, hadn't seen it here. Apologies if this is the wrong community!

I'm thinking of my friends and family who aren't on an alternative social media that loves Linux and Star Trek memes. I've been recommending stuff (I'll put in the comments) they can do that I think is easy and helpful but curious to see what your thoughts/recommendations are!

Was about to renew my Cypress pass and double checked this.

As far as I can tell, Cypress is owned by Boyne Resorts (Michigan based.)

Seymour seems owned by a local Vancouver family while Grouse is owned by Northland Properties Corporation which started in BC and is headquartered in Vancouver.

Looks like I'll be trying out Seymour next season!
