I would have probably given up after the GPS incident so props to you I guess. What phone are you looking to get if this one will eventually break down? Because if you like your headphone jack, it will be kinda hard to find a suitable replacement

Thanks alot for the more than enough explanation :)

interesting, so every DE has a WM or are can only one of them at a time be used? And if you use a WM you have to install guis, file managers yourself? I think the only thing i would want is a DE/WM that has tabs for folders. I think its a neat feature to have

yeah i guess this one didnt scream clickbait as much as the other videos of his. I got some in my feed afterwards and quickly realised that this guy doesnt shy away from using clickbait titles.

What is DE or WM? Is it actually that easy to change distro? Dont you have to basically install everything again from scratch? I read somewhere that you can seperate your directories on your SSD so that you can just change the kernel but i dont know how easy or true that is

Interesting that you said Arch has a good wiki. Maybe its just because its not common for beginners to start with Arch but when i read through the installation guide i noticed that there is no explanation on how to create a bootable usb in windows, at least the part for how to verify the signature wasnt explained for a windows user. For Linux Mint it was pretty much at the top, how to create a bootable usb in windows. I was very suprised that this guy called fedora and ubuntu the "devil" when i saw many people here use fedora.

One question though, you talked about packages and how they are sometimes different. How much had the amount of options for packages an effect on you, or anyone, while choosing your distro?

literally never saw this posted here so @cerement@slrpnk.net is right

Ah ok i gues si can understand it makes sense that if you really wanna learn linux you gotta be ready to get your hands dirty aka figuring out how to configure the distribution. Maybe its just very overwhelming because a beginner doesnt even know what you can / can't configure. But probably everything

as a noob, why are snaps so bad? Thanks for the bullet points btw, it cleared a bunch of stuff up :)

Since i see so much linux talk on lemmy i got curious and watched a video about the common distros. How true is the information in this video? The person hardly describes why debian and arch are just better than every other distro. At least i'm definitely now curious about Mint or something for gaming.

Maybe it's been so long but why are sound o sonic and flashy flash fighting again?

I'm very curious about that man and if he actually is a challenge for blast. Probably not for Saitama but who cares

Omg finally, I always stare at my watchlist to make sure if a new episode released. It's still a while until the end of December but at least they will actually release

Have you heard about gothic? They are kinda old except gothic 3 which is also pretty old but not that much. It has supreme story and a rich fantasy world but I dunno how well it aged since I have nostalgia glasses on.

In my opinion gothic 2 is the best, gothic 1 was also pretty good but it crashed at a specific point and I couldn't play on. Gothic 3 is buggy as hell

Hello everyone,

the title says it almost completly already. I had a long chat with someone and i always click show context when i get a notification.

If i do that, it sends me to the reply but i cant see the context. The button to show the context just wont work.

If i go to the post and wanna see the reply with context over there, it wont even load the last reply. Like the layering of replies is too much.

It is this comment . I didnt find any lemmy bug report thing so i just wanna post here to get it out there. Maybe this is already known, or for some reason only me has this problem. I dunno, is there anything i can do or is this actually a bug?

It happens to me on feddit.de and liftoff.

I really only once built my own pc and that was years ago. Now i finally have a nice job and have around a budget of 2k € to buy a pc. Im from europe, so no american prices for me.

A friend of mine said maybe another CPU would be better? The reason i chose a watercooler was to get it very quiet. Does that achieve that? Do they have other issues i should be aware of?

I only will use this pc for gaming and watching movies. Nothing much more. I dont want a curved screen, but i dont even know if i need 165 Hz. I play shooters but only casually.

Thanks for the input already :)

EDIT:

new list without the much recommended 7800X3D but at least it keeps me under 2k€ and there is an upgrade of the GPU. I also thought about going only 27'' but i really would like one bigger screen to watch movies.

I looked at the benchmark of the 7700 and the 7800x3d from cpumonkey and they seemed very similar with the one being somewhere better than the other and vice versa. So maybe not that much of a difference or wrong?

I just noticed yesterday. I was searching for a community, found it and read through a specific post and the comments.

I then noticed that I searched with lemmy.world, no biggie I thought, I switched over to my instance feddit.de and searched for the community, found the same post and didn't see any of the comments or anything like that.

I don't know much about the fediverse but I thought I could access everything from every instance and it didn't matter where I had my account. I'm using the app liftoff for Lemmy.

When someone answers to my message under a post I want to look at my message again to get context again.

The only way I have found this possible is by clicking on the three dots and then "view on another instance" and click on my own instance.

Is there a better way I'm missing?
