Is that real, or a misinterpretation of the law?

Yep, this is the explanation. People are still trying to rationalize "why do this in months, its all gonna collapse!" not understanding that collapse is the actual point.

Have you tried talking to customer support? I hear they are quite responsive.

I 100% agree. Whenever these companies start with their own projects I immediately get suspicious that their goal is to enshittify down the line with vendor lock-in.

The only reasons why I'm seriously considering a Tuxedo are 1. European brand and 2. Double SSD.

Not a lot of laptops seem to be offering double SSD while being Linux compatible, so my hands are kinda tied.

Doesn't Migadu work for calendars? Its a bit finicky, but I used these instructions and it worked for me.

Not sure about contacts though.

[–] Pirata@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

Wow. They offer that? Do you know how it works?

[–] Pirata@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

Good alternative? Hum, I'll have to disagree with you there.

Firstly, Heliboard it is closer to Gboard than to FUTO, which is closer to Swiftkey. Its actually the reason why I went with FUTO, I need that split keyboard.

Secondly, prediction on Heliboard is just not there. Like, at all. It was absolutely maddening to use, it would predict completely unrelated words even when using custom libraries.

And it actually got worse over time because it started saving nonsense words like "GRT" or "hafe" directly onto my personal dictionary. At one point all I would get was nonsense word after nonsense word. I had to abandon it, it was borderline unusable after a certain point.

Like the commenter above, I too want to sponsor FOSS projects as much as possible, but the offers simply aren't quite there yet.

What issues have you found with FUTO? I'm using it RN and beyond Swype being kinda finicky, it works flawlessly.

But yeah, not FOSS. The FOSS keyboard alternatives are indeed atrocious, especially Florisboard which oddly enough seems to be GrapheneOS's favourite option for a future standard keyboard.

Hey!

For storage/note taking I use Filen.io (German), pretty cool and affordable. Have no complaints, and they have a Linux native app also.

This is unironically great copywriting. Either that or chatGPT.

I wonder what OP does for a living.

[–] Pirata@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

I have never received a DM from another user on lemmy despite being more active than OP.

I'm not subscribed to many communities. Maybe linux and BuyEuropean and not much else.

I doubt that's the reason for the spam.

Well, would you say Boost blocks images by default? Because Thunder (the front end I'm using) doesn't.

Disable DMs? (lemm.ee)

Is there a way to disable DMs? I keep being spammed by users from an instance called sh.itjust.works promoting some weird out-of-platform personal profiles.

They usually send this stuff and then immediately seem to get banned, but I still see their stuff since images are displayed by default. Seems like a big oversight to allow this.

Is there a way to block receiving DMs? Or at least have some sort of Accept/Decline dm feature like on Reddit?

Pretty please. I got used to using it on the other platform that shall not be named, and now I can't live without it.

It's free, helps low vision readers and can be downloaded directly from the Braile Institute.
