That mindset is the problem. A slightly better UX at the cost of freedom is a bad deal.

Yeah. In Dutch cities people know to drive carefully at night because lots of drunk bikers are around. It's infinitely better than drunk driving.

I moved to Germany now and I feel less safe biking drunk here (I still do tho)

In the worked company, straight up jorking it. And by 'it' haha well. lets justr say. My peanits

Is this... a news story about something that didn't happen?

(I didnt read the article, genuine question)

It's the dilemma of any alternative space. People seeking alternatives don't like the mainstream.

And with a bit of generalization, there's two reasons not to like the mainstream:

  1. The mainstream is too oppressive
  2. The mainstream is not oppressive enough

I don't think he had them all to begin with, but he lost the rest of his marbles. To be honest I think if he was a critical thinker and a bit more open-minded, he would have become an anarchist. But sadly he's a Christian conservative.

Also as I've learned more about linux, I realize he's wrong about most things there too 😂

that's the one. As a kid I never understood why punishments even exist. People being mad at me was already unbearable torture

Are you just winding me up hahah

I have parents that love me to bits, but their strategy to get me to do my homework was... adversarial? It felt like they were checking my performance, just like the teachers were. It didn't feel like they were on my side, even though I'm sure they were.

Getting told off even gently felt like an unbearable punishment for some reason. I read something recently about adhd folks being more sensitive to negative interactions?

And that's how I became a pathological liar and master of masking!
