If the domain could be displayed in the list view, then it would be immediately apparent why it is not loading and you can move on.
(I'm OK with not seeing Redgif stuff, but a lot the time they don't show 'failed to load' for a while, so you think it may be some image still loading.)

It has gone quiet for a while before - I'm guessing that either their connection to the Reddit API goes over the limit or Reddit blocks them.
I see you reinstalled the app. There is a possibility that your Lemmy instance was unavailable due to maintenance causing the problem. Then it became available again while you reinstalled, making it look like the reinstall fixed it.
