Yes, I do love to waste my precious time doing things like that.

trust our feds instead

Can you quote that part from the article? I think I missed it

Should posts like this have [Satire] added to the title? I know sometimes people have a hard time clicking links and only read the title before commenting (example "How to monetize a blog" I posted here previously), but I want to learn what y'all think it is best.

Not meaning to attack here but there's an entire page o wikipedia talking about Denmark in World War 2.

They basically tried to not take sides/stay neutral and ended up being invaded by Germany.

In my opinion SO has been replaced by forges discussions/issues. Whenever I have an issue with some library or piece of software, I will always check their repo to see if someone is going through the same thing or how they solved it.

When I tried to engage with SO it was a pain in the ass so I just stopped answering/asking.

Well, hopefully people will install the plugin, right?

[–] Templa@beehaw.org 1 points 1 month ago

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I am indeed considering using the peerbanhelper. I will install it and see how it works.

I didn't say DHT was strictly something specific to Stremio. I mentioned it was what was being suggested by people trying to solve the issue, but I indeed didn't find anything to support it.

I changed the upload choking algorithm, thank you for the suggestion.

I am aware of !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com but I'd rather avoid the AI slop.

I used Stremio for a while and then I discovered it doesn't seed and it is just a leech. Since then we have a Jellyfin server at home and we are able to watch everything in 4K without having to worry if the movie will play smoothly.

If I could, I would stop seeding to all the Stremio clients out there. Whenever someone brings up the seed issue most of the people say they don't care.

Our neighbour unit is sitting empty since we moved last july. It is a 3 bedroom unit.

Not only Stremio, I heard there are other apps that do the same thing Stremio does, which is only leech and not seed.

From my research, the suggestions I found were :

  • Disable DHT
  • Use blocklists (I am also looking for suggestions, currently considering using this one)

There were also suggestions to block by PeerID, however Stremio generates a spoofed PeerID.

I also learned that Stremio only works if the tracker allows magnet links, but this doesn't seem something actionable on the peer level.

Is there anything else I am missing?

What are bandcamp fridays?

Bandcamp Fridays began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when the shuttering of venues led to a loss of vital tour revenue for artists. Since then, Bandcamp Fridays—on which we waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists & labels—has resulted in millions of fans paying over $120 million directly to labels and musicians they love. In addition to helping artists pay the rent, or fund album recordings and tours, Bandcamp Fridays have also become a beacon for artists and record labels looking to raise awareness for causes or raise money for charities.

Next bandcamp friday dates:

  • May 2nd
  • August 1st
  • September 5th
  • October 3rd

Since a few days ago when I updated my system, I noticed that I was unable to paste anything while using Code - OSS. It seems an issue caused by the newer Electron version.

On the issue page there are a few solutions listed already.

I'm posting this in case someone is having the same issue and might be wondering what is going on.

Her response on Canada being the 51st state was amazing. I think it start around 8:30.

Since we started paying for Proton Pass I noticed that a few websites do not allow you to use the generated e-mail. Two that come to mind are Atlassian and Discogs. Has anyone figured our a way to go around this?

spoilerIt seems the Honey Coupon extension wasn't just making money by tracking purchases from users, but also by taking credit for the sales for PayPal (since they are owned by it) by changing your local cookies. Pretty shady if you ask me.

Anyone else doing it? I am doing the first 3 days today to catch up. Just finished the first one!

Doing it with Rust to get more familiar with it. If anyone wants to talk about specific puzzles, we can do it using spoiler tags!

I have ADHD and have issues focusing on what I have to get done.

I am searching for a app such as this one where I can focus for a specific amount of time (like a pomodoro) but that stays on top of other apps. Does anyone know any FOSS app that is able to do such thing?

I am currently using Logseq with the Pomodoro timer plug-in.

In addition, what apps are you currently using for productivity? I am not talking about specific work tools like code editors. I currently use Logseq/Anytype (trying to transfer a few things to Anytype as it has support for templates). I tried using Vikunja but I didn't like it very much, we still use it for home management as it has support for recurring tasks.
