I was doing it to try to make their claim seem sane. Are people really on 4-5 streaming services?

Yeah I'm curious how they get that number. I look at it as my math is Internet ($50)+Hulu Bundle ($21)+Prime($12) is $83/mo

Surely some federal labor law could cover it.

That's why if a fine does not exceed the benefit the company gained from it, it's not a deterrent but a cost of business.

I blame the 24 hour news cycle and end of the Fairness Doctrine. It has allowed editorializing and "spinning" of news stories as opposed to being factual and objective.

Reddit only started hosting images and videos a couple years ago. That alone would massively add to costs. It's self inflicted and seems it was planned in an effort to keep people on the platform instead of linking to imgur to view the picture.

They brought the added overhead on themselves

I clicked than link and it opened a web browser with a list of instances but what I could do from that list is incredibly unclear

I think it's just that the whole Lemmy thing is a lot more disjointed. Like, I can't see a nice list of subs, or even necessarily search for them. I have to know they exist and then search for them using their exact address. Quite cumbersome.

I understand the want for the whole federated thing but may have a central point where federation submit to have theirs catalogued? I dunno. Its making this whole thing very cumbersome and I'm not entirely sold on it yet.
