I personally think we are going to need to move to a hybrid capitalist situation before we can hope to move past it. It will be very hard for countries to make a switch away, as it will prevent them from really existing in the global market, or force the governments to hold all the cash so they can still partake.

I think the direction some places are taking with basic or universal income is one of the most promising steps away I've heard about recently. It allows for a sort of sudo communism within the bounds of a capitalist society by ensuring all have the same basic access to resources. Obviously there are plenty of caveats with the implementations so far, such as who gets it, how much is it, can it cover basic living, etc. But I think it represents what I'm getting at.

If we can continue to implement meaningful social programs such as free and accessible healthcare, basic incomes, shortened work weeks, minimum wages, etc, etc it is continued progress towards a world where money becomes increasingly meaningless as everyone has what they need and only need to work for the extras.

Just my two cents from someone with absolutely no background in the relevant fields :)

But, we did straighten the leaning tower. It was leaning too far and in threat of collapsing so we spent a huge amount of resources straightening it just enough it wouldn't fall.

As someone on the edge of making the change myself, I have been enjoying these posts because I have been getting to learn some of the different distros and there pros and cons. Lemmy isn't insanely active right now, so you get a different group of perspectives with each iteration of the question.

Maybe once lemmy gets bigger we can break off these sorts of questions into their own catalog but for now I think they are doing more good than harm here.

Just my two cents tho, obviously you have the right to disagree :)

I can't wait until we can either get these guys back, or eventually have a manned mission where they can be recovered and stored. They represent such a large achievement for humanity as a whole and symbolizes our desire to advance and learn.

I've had the same brother laser printer since uni (shit thats like 10 years ago now) and it's never let me down. The only issue is it stops responding over the network sometimes when I Havnt used it in months.

That was quite the read but pretty worth it. He talks about a lot of the mistakes he made not just in relation to his crime, but as a developer, project leader, and general human being.

He discusses what things he would have done differently, and how he thinks that could have changed things not only for him but his software as well.

He mentions multiple times how much he wishes that the conflict handling and social classes he has access to in prison, were available to him in school. He ends the letter with a call to action, for just that asking people to try and affect legislation to get more youth access to this information to avoid cases such as his.

I was having trouble with my glass bed originally, to get it working nicely without glue or hairspray I:

  • made sure the bed was very clean, I use rubbing alcohol to clean it
  • dialed in my z offset, I usually match it to my layer height, so if I'm printing at 0.2mm that's what I set the z offset to
  • upped my print temp a bit, I usually print at 205-210 with PLA

Maybe one of those will help?

I'm I the only one that finds my office atmosphere overall nice and friendly? There's no one at work I don't get along with, and I definitely don't have 'enemies'. Sure there are a couple people that cause me a bit of extra work every once in a while, but I'm sure I've caused the same at some point.

Office work doesn't have to suck
