My boss legit says that he will give me some time to work on it every 2-3 months and then drops a “customer requires X feature and I promised that we will deliver in one week”. And mind you we have to patch up to 3 major versions in the past to back port the new feature because client haven’t upgraded and won’t in near future… which means sometimes our major releases are 60-70% same as our minor patches for old versions. Semvering much?

In the universe with 20-30% of actual inflation development costs will always rise even for indie because devs have to eat something and live somewhere. Not to mention software licensing and equipment

Same guy who said that if something exists for free there’s no reason to charge for this

That’s a con and a pro of decentralized net: if you don’t like the owner, pick another instance or create your own and be the king. Bad news is, every instance is controlled by couple regular folks who’re not responsible financially so they can imply their own rules and post and ban whatever they want.

Like the jungle: you gotta learn to survive and avoid the monkeys with rabies.

As per their ceo, they want to provide access to education to all (which is good since educated people are less likely to believe propaganda) and they do not monetize the app in that country in any way, which means no taxes going to putins pocket.

People are quick to jump to conclusions but they’re right here.

[-] delirium@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

They do not have any profit in « that market » because app is demonetized in Russia and Belorussia though

That’s pretty much the main reason I migrated to proton pass… was bugging me for a year I think

Worth to note that their audio quality and anc is worse than competition noticeably. So its quality vs environment

Throwing money into the fire to escape responsibility does not work? No way!

I thought I was alone in this lol

Win11 literally made me rage uninstall it after I got mad trying to remove all bloatware and then it showed me onedrive ad

0.2.0 (github.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by delirium@lemmy.world to c/arctius@lemmy.world

With lemmy.world being down so much today I thought I'd better do this asap, to make everyone's experience easier.

new stuff

  • Account picker. Is lemmy.world down again? Simply jump to your backup account on startrek.website and all's good!
  • User banners in all user profiles (if they exist)
  • Added notification toasts for a few more actions for clarity
  • Changed how followed communities are loaded. Now you see all and they're sorted alphabetically. Downsides? Can't see subscriber count... for now.
  • Some small stylistic changes across the app.

Do you think that this release is good enough to turn open testing into full release in Google Play? I'm thinking about doing that next week maybe.

1
0.1.6 (github.com)
  • you can reverse voting buttons order in settings (I noticed that many people prefer it the other way)
  • posts and comments will no longer flash/change opacity when you touch them, so scrolling them will be less distracting
  • links to other instances will now open in browser instead of just failing with error (atm its impossible to grab local federated link from instance link sadly)
  • added button "show all comments" on posts where you're just watching a child comment (/reply)
  • show toast badge on file load
  • display own profile banner (for now only own profile, next update - all users)
  • added community icon to own comments/posts and replies
  • added prompt window for adding a link to post

as usual, live on obtainium and will be there in google play soon

1
0.1.5 (github.com)

0.1.4 was skipped because it mainly contained fixes for google play store

  • fixed post reporting
  • now you can block community from feed
  • fixed "load X more" button for comments (it used to output duplicates)
  • fixed app permissions, removed few that we dont use

internal stuff:

  • fixed crashlooping during build process
  • updated eos version
  • updated peer deps

Reminder about feedback post here: https://lemmy.world/post/2590198

This update will be in google play store today.

  • What features do you think this app is still missing?
  • What could be improved?
  • Anything that just upsets you or makes your life garder than it should be?

I hate when things like this pop-up inside apps or websites, so I decided to simply make a post, even knowing it will reach smaller audience. :)

so far:

  • Double tap on feed button should go to back to top
  • Replies marked as “read” are still shown in unread replies
  • A click on the own profil picture should show it in a bigger version
  • ~~comments flashing on touch in posts~~
  • tap on top to change sorting
  • more customization
  • multilemmy (waiting for api on this one, dont want to ddos servers)
  • ~~Banner is not visible~~
  • ~~Community icons are missing on proifl page in “comments” and “posts”~~
  • ~~url prompt in md text~~
  • ~~posts flashing on touch in feed~~

We're on Google Play! (play.google.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by delirium@lemmy.world to c/arctius@lemmy.world

Finally sorted everything related to google's review, privacy policy etc etc and now the app is available to download in Google Play store. Its a bit behind in terms of version, but it will catch up fairly soon I hope.

Note that its in open testing right now and might not be available from search.

1
0.1.3 (github.com)

Taking it slower for couple of days because I'm busy with work...

Anyways:

  • More sorting options for feed
  • New "Blocks" screen (from profile) to show blocked communities and people
  • Block/unblock user button
  • Some fixes for login page
  • Fixes for scroll to next comment button behavior
  • Updated most of the dependencies and lemmy api
1
0.1.2 (github.com)
  • Ability to jump to next parent commend
  • New action to comment a post
  • Shorten large number of comments, votes i.e "1567" -> "1.5K"
  • Ability to ignore instance or keyword in post source
  • Action icons in posts and comments are slightly larger (additional 3 px radius around them) to make them easier to tap

Decided that I have enough fun things to bump a version number and release it, especially because I myself got tired of putting new nsfw communities to block from my "all" feed :)

Release 0.1.1 (github.com)

Thats gonna be first release under the new name. I've decided to pick this semi-rubblish name because it's fairly unique and reminds of arctic foxes, which fits the app's icon.

Whats new?

  • Ability to attach images to posts
  • Fixes for posting in mod-only communities
  • Fixes for spelling in few prompts
  • Fix for commenting on posts that only include embeds (without text)
  • Fix for embed rendering
  • Small things causing crashes
