That was my experience a few years ago. I would find myself first searching in DDG then using the g! or SP! search bangs to use Google or startpage. However, I have not needed that in at least a year or two. DDG now pretty much meets all my search needs.

If you go back even earlier, you couldn't even call outside your geographic region. Nationwide calling was a big deal!

I've been searching, without luck, for a wood tkl case or kit. Does anyone know of any for sale? I understand they may be hard to come by as 60-75% cases are easier to make out of wood, but really hoping at least one exists!
